I just read that Booker didn't practice yesterday and that Gilmore took the snaps with the first team. Why would Welker not be promoted to the #2 wr? He has been our most consistent and reliable WR. Also with Chambers, Gilmore and Welker, who is our number 4 this week?
All this of course assuming Booker can't go.

Gilmore caught a TD last week and had good production while Welker is good but he is small and he is our return man plus he is better as a slot WR. Cliff Russel will be our 4th wideout, don't ask me who he is but he is next on the depth chart

Welker gets a lot of reps on the field... his style of play is very aggressive and with his small build I think Saban wants to be sure he remains productive and not get hurt. It's a "less is more" philosophy and it seems to be working.

Welker is about the same size as Chrebet but a better player I think. And look what chrebet was able to do. I think welker should be given the chance at least.

Welker wouldn't start because he's more a of slot reciever. He can use his quickness and use the whole middle of the field.

I agree... but I think Welker is getting his chances.... Chrebets style of play and his continued exposure to big hits shortened his career....

We need Welker to continue to run back punts and move him around in the offense... I love th way the guy plays the game but he is not and every down player imo....

Gilmore should get promoted. I hear is probably the fastest member on the team.

Gilmore is the fastest player on our roster. That's why he is at the #2 spot right now, becasue we need his speed on the outside to stretch the defense.

It's really strange that Chambers now comes out and states that he has a bum thumb and has had it for 5 weeks. I don't think i will buy this. I believe it is just an excuse for all of the many drop passes he has had. Nobody else has said anything about it. And Chambers didn't mention it a couple of weeks ago when he dropped so many passes. But now it comes up. I don't believe that the team new and was trying to keep it a secret because there would be no reason or advantage to do so.

It's the dante hall problem. Use em to much and the returns will start to suffer. neways Wes is a better slot receiver regardless. That puts a Safety or a LB, or a nickle CB. That helps him overcome his height. PLUS Gilmore is the fastest guy on the team (Eddie Jackson is a tad slower...)

I'm not sure I agree with that at this point. Chrebet has done some pretty amazing things for a guy with his tools in his career. Welker has a chance to be better than him, but he's going to have to string together some solid seasons.

hells. your chambers post has nothing to do with this thread. we are talking about who would replace booker if he doesnt play. the thread you are looking for his chambers has been playing with a sprained thumb. thanks.

Welker doesn't have the physical tools to play flanker, and is perfect for the slot. Gilmore is more suited physically for the outside WR position.
