i know WR's are not our top top priorities... but i am missing a big target in the red zone with good hands. we do not have a guy like that, hence some problems when we got into the red zone areas at times. if it wasn't a TE we had nothing.

if we don't get someone in free agency to help us out there, what you guys think of a later round pick of WR Ramses Barden: 6'6'' 228 very good hands, uses body well, great character... but not the speediest or smoothest route runner.

I like nicks from north carolina better, he knows how to run routes better

I would love Barden. He could be our Brandon Marshall, except hopefully not a douchebag.

dont know much about this guy. sounds just like wilford. i dont think we need to worry about a big, physical WR til we get henne in there.

If you look at the pole on the home page it looks like most people think WR is out #1 priority. Guess we dont need to block for our running backs or QB we just need a great WR. It works in Detroit!!!!!

How many WR's were active the last couple of games? You don't open up your offense against the top teams with 3 active WR's! Arizona lined up 3 and 4 wide regularly! You don't scare safeties with TE's, RB's, and Cobb lined up wide. Now I love what we did on offense being creative finally but imagine what Henning could do if he had 5 legit WR's on his roster.

When we started spreading our offense out we had alot of success. In the past we couldn't do this because our OL sucked. Now that it is improving we ned to keep defenses honest and safeties back so we can have a consistent running game.

The plan for the offseason has to be pretty straight forward. Get BIGGER and faster. The OL and DL get bigger and we get some more size and speed at the skill positions.

My prediction:
2 new starting guys in the secondary and 2 at LB.
1 new starting DL and 1-2 OL.
1 new starting WR.

Not easy to do as well as continue to build depth. But this FO has kicked tail so let's keep it going. Gotta love NE getting raided - let's see that's a GM,OC, and D assistant (Capers) all gone!

So Rich u honestly believe we will have 5 new guys starting on defense?

I mean don't get me wrong, I know the exact 5:

NT, SOLB, ILB, FS, CB

But that is hard to accomplish in one offseason.

I say if we can draft a NT that the Trifecta likes in round 3, draft Moore in round 1, draft a SOLB and a CB in round 2 and go after a guy like Scott or Dansby in FA . . . we maybe can accomplish it . . . problem is I don't think we do. Plus u are thinking 2 new offensive lineman and a new starting WR . . . its going to be tuff to do in one offseason.

You nailed the positions on D although NT may not be a starter right away if they are drafted with one exception possibly. Depending on Roths imporvement in the offseason (he may stick at OLB) I could see possibly 2 new starting ILB's. Crowder is as good as gone so there is one and I don't think Ayodele played that consistent. Now maybe it's Torber taking over 1 or someone we already have but I think out of the 4 LB's 2 may be new starters from last year. That is BP's specialty - LB - and I can't believe he was satisfied this year. Well I know he wasn't when you sign a CFL guy for 4 yrs and 4+M. I also saw some life from CAnderson the last couple of weeks pass rushing. I wouldn't count him out yet.

I also have to believe that FS is close to his top upgrade priority. RHill was terrible down the stretch. IF we resign Goodman then I think the draft fallout determines how high you go at CB but that's IF we resign him (which i hope we do).

As for the OL - if I had my choice it would be Long, Smiley, new center, Thomas, and Carey. BUT who is to say Carey won't price himself out or someone doesn't come available that is an upgrade at guard. Thomas is unproven. I have a hunch they make another run at McQuistan out of Dallas. His 3rd yr and their starters are all locked up for at least 2 more years.

As good as this team played they had a soft schedule and can we say overachieved without sounding negative. We need a big upgrade in talent still - especially some play makers.

Number one, Ndukwe and Alleman are lousy players. But, they are not our starters if everyone is healthy. So, that's a reason why our line is better than how it ended the year. But, a big reason why we can't run block is because defenses never line up fewer than 8 men at the line of scrimmage against us. Often, it's 9 guys. Until we can consistently make plays downfield to WR, this will not change.

i do agree with you on this. he is a great route runner, can work the sideline and comebacks very well... decent seperation downfield....

i was thinking mroe in the redzone though and goalline... a big target with great hands to go get the ball on fades, timing patterns, slants... etc... someone to alomst box out with his body if needed.... thats why i was thinking Barden late rounds (or even maybe undrafted if it goes that far)

is Marcus Monk still with the giants practice squad.... taboot on that!!!

some people want quick points, thinking if they snag top #1 possible WR's it becomes so easy... and we'll then have an explosive offense that constantly works.

its not like that at all.... you need a basis first... look at any team... offensive line is so key, with a decent running game at least. building that up takes time.

You almost had this perfect but I would say we need:
SOLB, CB, FS, NT, and WR.

Adoyle and Crowder did a good job inside this season. All of our problems on D stem from the fact that we had 1 pass rusher. I've got Everette Brown on my wishlist.
