WVDolphan just made one of his semi regular appearances on the Mike Francesa show. While listening to Mike go over the AFC playoff picture, WVDolphan was disturbed by the fact Mike kept mentioning the Patriots and Ravens and how the Patriots schedule was easier etc. etc and how it was likely that the Pats would be playing vs. the Jets in round 1 of the playoffs.

Well WVDolphan thought it would be appropriate to ring up Mike and remind him that IF the phins go to Toronto and beat the Bills this weekend, that it will be THE MIAMI DOLPHINS who will roll into NY for a division title game vs. the Jets in week 17. Mike of course, hadnt even considered the fact that the PHINS CONTROL THEIR OWN DESTINY for the 3 seed. He hadnt considered that IF we can beat the bills, that it is more or less a LOCK that we come up there at 10-5 and playing for the division crown no matter if the Jets are 11-4, 10-5, or 9-6.

Just before I finally got on though, he did mention that the two possibilities for a flex game to Sunday night that week are Cowboys and Eagles or Phins vs. Jets. Man it would be great to play that game on a Sunday nighter.....win and youre division champs...lose and youre out all together. WOW. :hi5::woot:

BRING IT ON JETS!!!!!!!! Ive been having these thoughts go through my head of the phins going up there and laying an *** whipping on the Jets. And some of the phins equipment staff pulling out a huge box of those swimming noodles that kids and the elderly use in the pool. Only these noodles would be in two colors....aqua and orange. And on them it says "WE GOT YOUR NOODLE RIGHT HERE!!!!!" Maybe some AFC EAST CHAMPION logos on them. Them maybe we could drop a case of them off in the Jets locker room and put one in each players locker. Only add to those a couple other lines like....."Favre BLOWS" or "Enjoy the offseason". Maybe the Jets could take them on vacation to Florida and let their kids play with them in the hotel pool while they watch us host a playoff game.:lol:

Having said all of that, this is how HUGE that loss was to New England. Now we have put ourselves in a position to have to win 4 straight(counting the one we already won vs. the Rams) just to get back to the position we had ourselves in before losing to New England. Winning the next 3 gets us right back where we were. Playing a huge game, only for all the marbles this time.

Because face it, 10 wins just wont do it even if our loss is our last NFC game vs. the 9ers. The Colts will coast to at least 11 wins, if not 12 because the Titans might have guys sitting in that last game of the year. The Ravens are also going to get to 10. They will crush Washington and all they would need is one more win to lock us out of a wildcard. Even if they lose to Dallas and Pittsburgh(and I actually dont think they will, I think Baltimore is highly underrated and see them as a threat to win that division. I think they are just better than Dallas too)

This means a wildcard is just not possible. Because if 10 dosent do it, then we cant get a wildcard. Because 11 wins and we are division champs no matter what. So its division title, #3 seed or bust. Thats it. We are either hosting a first round game or we are sitting at home. Of course there is an outside shot that 11 wins gets us the #2 seed, but its most likely its the #3 seed.

LETS GO PHINS!!!!!!!!!!!
 
How did FATcesa take it? I hear him a ton here in PA and he is a pompous ***. He always thinks he is right. Never gives the fans a chance to view their opinions. I hope you made him crawl into a hole! No one gives us our due respect!!!

Mike is usually cool with me. Ive been on about 30 times over the last couple years and I only sensed him giving me a complete lack of respect on one occasion.

He obviously didnt realize that the phins controlled their own destiny for the division. I told him this stuff and told him he could do the tiebreak for himself. However, he made the remark that well beat Buffalo and then we can talk about it as if he didnt want to bother looking it up. He asked me about the tiebreak and I explained that even if the Jets are 11-4 going into the game, that at 10-5 a victory over them would result in both teams being 4-2 in the division and that in common games Miami has the edge because of the 2 non-common games vs. Baltimore and Houston, Miami lost both of those. So you dont even need to add it up for the 14 common games.

So as I was cut, he stated, beat Buffalo and we can talk about it, but they went on to flash our schedule and he stated, ya know what....if Miami comes up here at 10-5 and beats the Jets, Kudos to them, they would deserve it. That was after he discussed how our last 3 wins were close games against bad teams. And while that may be true, the reality is IF we beat Buffalo, we play 2 more bad teams and will most likely win both of them. Which of course would put us at 10-5 and playing for the division crown. Of course I couldnt respond to his remark about the close wins vs. bad teams because I was no longer on the line, but I will be sure to call next week after we beat Buffalo. Im sure he will be on top of it at that point though. It will be talked about everywhere if we get to 8-5, the fact we control our own destiny that is and play 2 really bad teams before going to NY. Everyone will be aware of it IF we beat Buffalo.

I also mentioned how you know Pennington is classy and wont say it, but you know he would LOVE that opportunity to go up there and play for all the marbles and STICK IT to the JETS!!!!!!!!!!!:woot:

:lol: As much as I would like to say that, I cant. I like calling in there and I would get blackballed for saying that on the air.

I shouldve given everyone a heads up though as I was waiting on the line for about 35 min before I got on. Sometimes the wait is long, sometimes it isnt. Just depends. Anyways, like I said, if we win on Sunday I will surely try and get in again next week. Sometimes its tough to even get on, but I will try. And if I do, I will give you guys a heads up.

yea that was awesome i was watching him i liked your point about the ravens but he just blow you off like he does to most callers beacuse he knows it all

ya i was listening at the time, and for some reason i thought it was wvdolphan seeing that the caller was from west virgina. i also realize how mike when he was going over the afc playoff picture never mentioned miami and he mentioned every single other team, and also i thought it was retarted how hes saying it like its a lock that the pats will be a wildcard when first of all there not even in it if the playoffs started today, and second of all the only reason they are ahead of us is bc they have played one more division game so they have that extra win to this date so far.
 
Thanks for having our backs WVdolphan, It's surprising he didnt know since he loves to brag about his relationship with the Tuna.......Man what a way to finish the regular season......Prime time you win your in you lose your out........wow who would of thunk it to start the season...............Lets take care of business next week.....

I disagree with the wildcard being out of the question, with Balt remaining 4 games I could see them losing 3 of those.....I would agree that the easier path is Division Champs.

I could see the Pats losing to Arizona and I can see the Jets losing to one of the west coast teams, They always have trouble playing on the West Coast. This yr Oak and the Chargers beat them out there. I can see them losing to the 49ers, Which would give us room for one loss against the 49ers. The reason I say this is our record over the last six games is 5-1. If we have to win the next 4 then we would have a 9-1 record in our last 10 games and 11-3 in our last 14. Thats not an easy thing to do.
 
Really hope that Week 17 pans out that way. Already got the Tickets. God how great it'd be.

I wanted to expand more on the Ravens thought, but I was afraid I wouldnt even get to the real point I wanted to make about the phins. I couldve debated more with him on Baltimore. Anyways, when talking about Baltimore, he did the exact thing that made me call in the first place....started talking about the Patriots chances vs. the Ravens. As if they are battling for the 6 seed and the Jets are some kind of lock for the division.

I think he is right that NE's schedule is easier than Baltimore's and that its quite possible NE gets to 11 wins. But, I think they probably get 10. And I think its likely Baltimore not only gets at least 10, but I think that game vs. the Steelers will be for that division crown. I also think the Ravens have an OUTSTANDING shot to win that one. I think they will destroy Washington(as I mentioned). Washington is garbage. Way overrated. As is Dallas. I can see the Ravens winning that one too. Personally I think the Ravens might get 11, maybe even 12 wins. They might beat Pittsburgh in that process as well and if they do, even with 11 wins, that might get them the division crown as Pittsburgh's schedule is tough as well.

People sleep on the Ravens was my point. But, I really wanted to make that point about the phins and how he completely overlooked them. Otherwise, I wouldve battled him on that.

Yea, the Pats destroyed us, and honestly they are the better team. But, despite that fact, the reality remains that IF we beat Buffalo, we will more than likely be 10-5 and playing in the final week for the division whether we are better than the other teams in the playoffs or not. And if anyone dosent think we can go to NY and win, then just ask yourself if you thought Denver would go in there and win by 17.
 
Basically my whole deal was how he went over the AFC picture as if so many spots were clear. I agree with him that Tennessee is a lock for the 1 seed and Indy is a lock for the 5 seed. Denver is a lock to win that division, but there is an outside chance that its not necessarially the 4 seed. They now own the tiebreak on NY and if the Jets win the division at 10-6, Denver could steal the 3 seed. Hell they could still take the 2 seed at 11-5 because Pittsburgh and Baltimore have tough schedules. So those 3 I was right there with him.

However I am not so quick to 1)Dismiss the Ravens as a threat to win that division 2) Think despite the easier schedule that the Pats will beat out the Ravens for a wildcard and most importantly 3) fail to realize that if the Phins beat Buffalo, there is a game for the division title in week 17 vs. the Jets.
 
I heard that call. Good job of representing our Dolphins. However I am skeptical. He was right in saying we have beaten 3 bad teams by the skin of our teeth. And we really sucked against the rams with all the penalties and rushing yards given up. I want us to win the division bad but I just wont believe it until we go into week 17 at 10-5. I hate to say it but I think there is a good chance we lose 1 or 2 of our games before week 17.
