For those who don't have the time to read all of WV's post, I made a brief summary of what he wrote. Scroll down to see the cliff note version.........

Wake up. You crack me up...When the season ends last year you go from saying we will make the playoffs next year to now saying we will win 9 games. If we win 5 games next year you’re going to try to spin it as well. You think everyone is complaining and gloom and doom and bla bla bla when they point out the obvious. News Flash...no QB upgrade which we were promised...Do you really think the offense is going to somehow magically open up with a new OC...We all know what Tony likes to do. RUN RUN RUN…..FG. Play conservative and try to win in the fourth quarter. Take off your homer glasses.

WV keep it up. You are dead on, it’s funny when homers can't wake up and see what’s going on.

Who is spinning now? I said if we got an upgrade at QB that we will be a 10+ win team and definitely be in the playoffs. They appear to be going with Henne again, but I still see a 9 win team that LIKELY will make the playoffs.

Dude make a blog. No one cares this much about your opinion and titling every thread with your name in it is a lame cry for help.

The thing is that we already have an ideal head coaching candidate in house with Nolan. Say what you want, but SF was not a good situation for a first time head coach (especially with the added pressure of coaching in the same city that his father had). The owners in SF are from most accounts pretty bad and he was saddled with Alex Smith at QB, who I believe was drafted by a previous regime (I may be off on this, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). The point is, he's been in a situation where he was held back by a not so great QB and won't likely fall into that trap again. He would also be very unlikely to dismantle a top defense that he helped to build. He is also a top football mind, unlike our current HC. Sometimes it takes a HC a try or two to get it right. It brings to mind a certain defensive coach who bombed in Cleveland but managed to win multiple Super Bowls at his second HC gig. It would also allow the continuity to where the entire team wouldn't fall apart with Sparano's firing.
Never mind. Nolan did pick Alex Smith. Aside from that, I still think he would make a good HC candidate. At least he's proven that he's willing to draft a QB early.

On the plus side, that d-bag Sean Salisbury doesn't work for ESPN anymore, so he won't be there to chastise the Dolphins for "running their coach out of town" if Tony resigns, like he did with Wanny.

WV In all honesty it is getting harder to support Sporano. We have more offensive lineman coming in and out of the phins than you can count which means there are problems where at this point there should not be and they were willing to get rid of Carey who I agreed was overpaid but was still one of the best of the bunch. The running back position looks weaker to me than last years group. If your not going to improve the QB position you best improve these 2 areas a bunch which is not happin IMO. I could kick the can down the road and disagree that both Orton and Matt Ryann are probably not the answers when the rest of the other 31 NFL GM's have passed both those guys. Still either one would logically provide a better backup/ competion to Henne than what we have for sure.
Special teams are not even being talked about but they have been a problem and I really do not see how they have improved.
The defense seems to get all the allocades but that "only" happened after Mike Nolan showed up.
As for our differences of opinion WV I hate to change for just changes sake. Ireland has aquired some healthy talent on this team we were missing for a number of years and Nolan needs to stay. Sporanos strength in the past is he has shown a tendacy to make changes as needed. Thinks Wild Cat and Mike Nolan for instance so that needs to wiegh in with the thinking process.
I have seen a ton of changes starting with the end of the Shula years when both the fans and media drove Shula out then Jimmy Johnson and the only results I will hang my hat on were Jimmy Johnsons drafts and those produced mainly defensive stars that the coaches that followed had to rely on.
I really do not think Sporano will make it to mid season but that does not mean I will boo him or Henne thats just lack of class and certianly does not help.
I am not as sold as most on the next big coach after seeing Jimmy Johnson, Nick Saban and Bill Parcell all march in and then back out the door without acomplishing much. I believe it take a while to build a team and a team to be good needs a stable organization behind it. THe Dolphins have not had that in awhile but Ireland has brought more to the table than previous GM stints around here and the same for Nolan. Sporano seems a little to focused on his offensive philospy which is not working to stick. We shall see.

You can't be serious if you think 9 wins will get us into the playoffs. You did say an upgrade at qb would be 10 wins. It is also possible 10 wins wont get us in either.

Excellent post WV, and don't listen to the Aqua-colored Glasses crowd who always seem ignore whats right in front of them, all in the name of bragging about what great fans they are, and what awful fans some of us are.

One of the greatest points that should be obvious to everyone is, the Dolphins were a team a quarterback away from the playoffs last year, and of all the teams who needed quarterbacking, about the only one who failed to draft one high or sign a big name free agent.

Its like ground hog day over and over here...............................

Your analogy of Wannstedt-Sparano is bang on and should be obvious to all as well.

To quote George Santayana: ""Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it"

Keep banging the cowbell WV until the owner of this team wakes up!

This thread sucks! Sparano couldn't sniff Wannys jock as a HC!

It's a somewhat fair comparison. They're both cowards. BUT Wannstedt had an understanding of defense and you saw that on his teams. I have no idea what facet of the game Sparano is good at because you don't see it anywhere.
