If duration of interview means anything, Lions senior personnel executive Brian Xanders may have acquired an upper hand in connection with the Dolphins’ search for a new General Manager.

Xanders, the former G.M. of the Broncos, had a two-day interview for the job, per a league source.

While the specific duration of the other five interviews isn't known, its unlikely that any one candidate had a two-day interview, given that five other interviews happened in only a three-day period.

It's unclear how many more interviews are planned in the first wave, and when (or if) a second round of interviews will commence.

Beyond Xanders, the team has interviewed Browns assistant G.M. Ray Farmer, Titans V.P. of player personnel Lake Dawson, Dolphins assistant G.M. Brian Gaine, Steelers director of football and business administration Omar Khan, and Cardinals V.P. of player personnel Jason Licht.

Well if Paton of the Vikings decides not to interview I think we may be done with all of our candidates. That's my guess.

The first portion was in NYC with Ross then the following day in Miami. Question is was Ross in Miami as well and if so, did they travel together? Can't believe the local beatwriters are not on this but not overly surprised.

I posted this yesterday. In addition to Ross it seems he met with other dolphins officials. Not sure who was where and when but it sounds encouraging.

Xanders met with different groups of Dolphin officials over the last two days -- Yesterday in New York City and today in Florida.

Can someone weigh in on the pros of Xanders over Licht? Is it something beyond the fact that Xanders has prior GM experience? I raise the issue as Armando's blog - yes I know that Armando often spews garbage - quoted sources belittling Xanders ability to evaluate talent and suggesting that others in the Broncos organization were responsible for picking the players.

As Ross stated that talent evaluation was the most important credential in hiring a GM, I still find Licht as the most intriguing candidate.

Mando has lost all credibility when t comes to the Dolphins. He has an obvious axe to grind against the organization and his "reporting" reflects that. He is a petty little man with no apparent skills in anything other than peddling trash.

agreed. wish people would stop linking his stories. Lets not give him anymore hits. he needs to GO

My guess is that Armando thinks Xanders is the guy and will now start slagging him to make it look like the Dolphins are a dysfunctional mess run by a moron.

Which may be true.

Whoever is chosen as the next GM Armando will make a negative comment about it. If it's Xanders he'll make up something about him not picking the players as you said. If it's anyone else they won't have prior GM experience and we passed over Xanders who did and that person would never have picked any players or have had final say before.

You can absolutely and easily put a negative spin on any hire and Armando will. We'll just have to hope they pick the best candidate possible and that he brings in the most talent possible.

Nonetheless, I would assume that Armando would not lie about receiving such texts and emails as he would be required to produce them. Just look at Incognito and his claims which he was able to prove.

I still prefer Licht. Was he the first to interview? I know that Lazor interviewed first.
