I'll start by saying I feel pretty good about the draft.

I just can't make sense of our second round pick. Even more so since we traded up for him. I know Joseph is looking for tall corners but it sucks that essentially 2 inches put Howard over someone like Alexander.

Just want to hear other opinions on the pick.

Sucks ?

Maybe for you, but Howard was the one they wanted over Alexander, It makes sense that since VHII, Apple, and Jackson were tagged their next best was Howard and them knowing more of the fit they were looking for you can't justly argue at this stage of the game...

Some hate the pick, some like it. I'll try not to be too judgemental until I see him on the field

Gotta be better than Lippet v Brady week 2

He's got the ideal size and is a scheme fit

It's the one pick i have a problem with. I just don't see it from the kid on the field. He doesn't have elite speed, and seems to get beat petty often hence giving up 9 TD's. I get that he fits the prototype and has ball skills and i believe that he could be better under Joseph but it feels like a serious reach. I don't see a day one starter and i thought Line Backer or defensive End would have been better value wise. I don't hate it because i get it but def don't love it. Only pick i give a C.

I know some people have concerns about the number of times he was beaten deep and they should be. Baylor didn't give him much safety help, if at all so he was left on an island most of the game. I'm hoping with the zone concepts many think Vance will employ, some of X-Man's problems can be hidden.

I really hope so. Do you think he starts week one.

I don't know where the he's not athletic stuff comes from.

Howard isn't a finished product yet, but he wasn't babied in college either. He was never told, "whatever you do don't give up the big play." He was asked to play very aggressive and had no help over the top. That's the kind of confidence and aggressiveness you want to see when drafting a press cb.

That's hard to find to find in the draft. Go watch tape of other press corners like apple, you'll see him giving WRs all the space in the world, scared to give up the bug play. He will back up and just keep on backing up. That won't fly for a press corner in the NFL.

I like the way Xavien plays, press corners are projects, polished press corners are basically non-existent in the draft.

Will believe that when the lineup is announced before kickoff

He's got no case, Goodell isn't going to back down. He's just pretending to fight back to make himself look innocent.

Howard was considered not very athletic because he didn't test well at the combine.

But if you watch him play, you'd understand that he's very athletic. Kid was on a island his career against pass happy offenses. He gave up Touchdowns but the kid made a hell of a lot of plays.

so what you're saying is that it's a team sport and that perhaps the talent around him wasn't that good? how many of those other defensive players were drafted?
