The ProFootballFocus.com grades are in for the Miami Dolphins victory over New England and guess what?
Yeah, they’re pretty good.
Grading out highly this week are Jay Cutler, Ndamukong Suh, Kenyan Drake, Jarvis Landry and others. Grading out like he’s elite is cornerback Xavien Howard.

He absolutely smothered Brandin Cooks and looked like a guy who knew what was coming a full second or two before it happened. To play like that only means one thing, you've prepared your ass off. His INT's haven't been "right place, right time" gifts. Sometimes all a guy needs is the confidence to know he belongs. Swagger is very important to WR's and CB's because they are so isolated.

It's nice to see the recent success of 2nd round picks in Miami and the value they are bringing.

If only the same could be said about our 1st round picks.

Id like to see the post effects on Cooks. could be good tape on him now

As far as young corners go in the NFL today, Xavien has to be considered one of the best. He is big, strong, fast, physical, has ball skills, ****y/confident, great closing speed, a man to man match up nightmare on top of shutting down two of the league's best WRs in Thomas and Cooks. He's always been a good young guy with room to grow. I think we're starting to see all the hard work paying off. Having Tank and Howard as our future CBs can be very special. We have to let them play man to use their size and physicality to their advantage. I loved Mcdonald and Reshad playing flawlessly as interchangeable Safeties. Jones is a big safety in person. I met Mcdonald when he was on the Rams and he's a monster!! I really think this secondary can become a special one..
PHINS UP!!

If X continues to play at a high level, start budgeting his extension.

It's funny how everyone was saying Howard was garbage 3 weeks ago, and now all of a sudden he's one of the best young CB's in the league. The guy has actually played very well since the ATL game.
keep on mind there are people here wanting to get rid of Parker too

Ozzy rules!!

Cooks only reception of the night came when the Dolphins were playing zone. 1 reception on 7 targets. This is well deserved accolades for X who has played lights out the past two weeks.

What ive seen from Howard is a guy thats been having tight coverage just not getting turned around fast enough to make a play. There has been a few big catches on X this year where the WR just made a great contested catch with X in good coverage. Im glad to see him now just playing more aggressive!

Off topic but I dont see many people mention Tony L when speaking about the future of our seconday. To me I saw a guy last year really getting better and baring a setback with his knee I expect him to become at top tier #2 corner in the near future. Imagine the ballhawking capabilities of our secondary if Lippett comes back strong and continues to imorove!

I can't wait for Tony L to re-join the group. If we can find a solid FS to go along with the rest of that secondary we'd be set for a few years.

No, rookie Marshon Lattimore is far and away the best. It's not even close. He may be DPOY as a rookie.

I haven't forgotten about him... I think Cordrea is our #2 though. I really like our CB's now and for the future. Just get us a true FS and we're set for Years to come in the secondary. Add an athletic lb who can blitz and cover and our defense is dangerous.
