If he does not get hurt, which seems to be a common theme with players.:wall

Xavien Howard’s growth and development become more apparent each day the Miami Dolphins’ second-year cornerback is on the field. At times he covers like a blanket. At other times he’s able to make a read and jump a route. And he’s always willing to come up and lay some lumber on a ball carrier on a running play.
“We see a lot of good things in practice,” Dolphins coach Adam Gase said of Howard. “We see tight coverage, it’s really hard to throw the ball on him.

I'm stoked with his development and his desire for contact. We've needed elite talent at CBS for a long time, I sure hope his practice dominance translates to the games, because that changes everything with our pass defense.

He seems to get it, put in the hard work with quality coaching, ie the footwork coach, studying other great successful CBS around the league, and learning the tendencies of routes and how to play differently verse different types of WRs.

He must stay healthy!

Seems like all of our players are really developing and that is attributed to a great coaching staff and management, things are trending upward on a lot of our youthful talent!

Good to hear. We need these young players to take the next step otherwise the team is taking a step backwards.

Anyone with any eye for talent could see the flashes on this guy. It's a shame lippett went down because as a developmental player I thought he was light years ahead of where anyone expected him to be.

We need to remember that Xavien Howard came out early, so he was quite young. He plays a position that is historically raw coming into the league--press man corner. He had to make the transition to becoming less "handsy" because of how the rules are enforced in the NFL. And despite his phenomenally fast learning curve at all of those things, he missed most of the pre-season and only was healthy for about 6 games last year. So, this kid is still very young and still in the early part of his development cycle.

So far, I love what I see from him, and I'm very excited to see him build on a truly impressive rookie season. He seems completely invested and hard working. Paired with his size, strength, agility, tenacity, physicality and all around physical talent, that hard working attitude bodes very well for him actually reaching his quite sizable potential. Let's hope he stays healthy this season.

I dunno.

I went from pumped to discouraged. Our badass guys are dropping like flies.

Instead of expecting bad play and terrible coaching, now I expect to hear we lost this guy or that guy.

Kinda hard to stay optimistic.

I love these guys, have for 40 years, but for whatever reason, every year we always have an issue. So I'm back to not hoping for much this year. Maybe I'm wrong. I'll always holler for them and wear my colors, but I'm not excited about the season. Again.

Howard's got the physicality that I love. It sure sounds like he's matured into the type of CB other teams will try to avoid. McDonald, Jones and Howard all have that same physical quality. This could be fun to watch.
