Merry Christmas and Happy new year to all! :) I'd like to express my views on some of the players that are free agents or may become free agents this offseason. There have been alot of talk about some of these players, so here's my take:

1. T.O. - Not a Saban type player and too expensive. Great talent, just no brains. :shakeno: 0% probability of being a Fin.

2. Drew Brees- Sadly, we could have him if Wanny wasn't such a moron, but I see a possibility that SD lets him go into free agency and moves ahead with Rivers. He won't come cheap, but he is a Saban type player. If he hits FA I give him a 35 % probability of being a Fin.

3. Aaron Brooks- Has shown flashes of greatness on a bad team. If he's let go, I don't see Saban looking his way, especially after his recent bout of talktoomuchitis. 0 % chance of being a Fin

4. Josh McCown- JM is a Saban type team player with some upside. Another player on a bad team. He can be coached and would fit the mold that Linehan might desire. He would come cheap, and could develope. 35 % chance of being a Fin.

5. Reggie Wayne- RW won't come cheap, and he probably will be a #1 WR on a team with a greater need. 10 % chance of being a Fin

6. Nate Clements- If NC becomes a free agent, I think Saban gives him a shot. #1 CB's are worth the $, so I give NC a 40 % chance of being a Fin.

7. O-Line- I don't think Saban spends big FA $ on any O-lineman. I look for one or two low cost FA's and a draft pick or two. Saban will let Houck do his magic, which has worked well this year, and will only get better next year.

Overall, with the cap situation being good, the Fins should get a good FA young veteran QB to compete with Gus, while grooming Lemon or a draft pick for years to come. My feeling is that Saban can build a very good offense around the current players, but needs to bring in some veteran competition to compete with Gus. Look for Sage to play elsewhere if this happens. The draft could very well depend on this one FA move.

Saban likes his Defense!! This is why I see things this way. The first round pick could easily be a defensive player. I'll let our resident draftniks talk about this part. I'm sure I missed a few good names, so chime in at will :dolphins: PEACE!!

QB, QB, QB, QB, QB, get the picture, we need a QB. T.O. (even though I don't want him) won't go to a team that has Gus or anyone like Gus throwing to him.

OK, you have your break. Whats your thoughts on the T.O. matter? He is a great talent for sure, but my take is he will never be a Saban type player!

I think every fan on the planet sees this picture, but thanks for stating the obvious, I'm getting old and need reminders often :sidelol:

I think we have to look at the New Eng. example of what Saban will do when looking at personnel. Bill B. got rid of his high priced CRNR BACKS to cut money because, (I read somewhere) , that he doesnt need 'GREAT' C.B.s with that system. I dont think Saban will go with HIGH PRICED free agents ANYWHERE especially unless he knows there work ethic and mindset personally, meaning 'people that play the game
HIS WAY'. I dont look for BIG free agent signings this off season unless it is a CANT MISS player, INCLUDING QB.

im sure almost every player has a chance to come here who is a free agent..except positions we are filled at

Saban will go after Julian Petersen if he is a FA.

I agree with him. I can't see this team taking a chance on him at this point, we have too much off a good thing going on right now, distractions like that are not needed.

Happy Holidays Y-Town! How do you like that new chevy center downtown, its bringing in some pretty big names. I think Seinfeld is on the way.

Man, I hope we don't get a young FA to compete with Gus... I rather see us draft Cutler and have Gus groom him, or bring in Brees to be #1.

Happy Holidays to you as well Saves, looking forward to some big name concerts coming to town this summer, that would be great, it's a nice facility.

What do you think will happen at QB this offseason?

1) TO - Agreed, not a Saban guy and unless we get a real QB, he'll never come here.
2) Brees - I disagree with Brees. He'll stay put unless Marty is canned. There is power struggle going on between Marty and AJ Smith...If Smith wins out, Brees is gone and if Marty wins out either Rivers stays and becomes a cancer to the team or he is dealt. Saban won't pay what the Chargers are looking for Rivers though...I'll take either but Rivers is not the best fit here. He may end up in Detroit...
3) Brooks - Now he is about a 50% better chance here. He has had issues, but he has a history with Mueller, he has experience and can throw deep well. His decision making has been suspect at times, but Linehan has shown a propensity to adjust his offense to fit the personnel. He might be a less expensive alternative and most importantly, Saban and Linehan have shown that they can win with a less than perfect QB (in fact, a down-right lousy one, but I digress). Brooks will be looking for a 'new beginning' and Mueller probably wants to show that he wasn't wrong about Brooks. That lets Saban still pick a project QB to groom behind him.
4. Josh McCown- Interesting prospect. Physically fits well into Linehan's O, but has a knock of being somewhat dumber than a rock. I don't know much more about him, but would imagine the cost would be in line.
5. Reggie Wayne - No chance...he wants to go to an organization that is closer to winning than we are and he'll want the big bucks, particularly if the Colts win it all this year. Still, being from the area, his UM histroy and our need to compliment Chambers makes this a possibility...would be nice, but pipe dreaming, I fear...
6. Nate Clements - Would be an upgrade in a need position (since I assume that SM will be moving on), but is not known as a 'physical' CB, more in the SM/PS mode and not the type of player that Saban is looking for in a CB...Not quite as good a PS was when he was here, but a very good, if not close to elite CB...probably goes for more money than we'd spend...
7. O-Line - Another need area. I see, as you said, some middle-range FA's that may be an upgrade to what we have. LT and RG seem to be our need areas. I doubt that we keep Big Mac if they can get someone at least equal to him. His contract needs to be redone if he stays. If, as it appears, Hadnot stays at C, then we will need a RG. McKinney, I doubt comes back, unless he gets no offers and comes back as a backup/depth move. There will be movement there, but it's a little cloudy as to what they do unless D'Brick falls in our lap for some unknown reason...

Overall, I'd wouldn't be surprised at all if we went D first...I still think that we'll make some move for a QB before the draft...then if someone falls to us, great...if not, so be it....

I'd welcome him, but doubt Saban will spend that kind of $ on a linebacker, which is not a high need position. I look for Saban to draft that position, and hope we can land another Crowder! ;)

Did anybody look at Ricky being a Saban type player? What TO has done off the field has been absolutly crazy these past couple years. He has been a lockerroom killer and has cause more crap in the NFL than any other player. He has also been a top 3 recievers. Personally I think he is the best in the NFL, but for arguements sake we'll just say top 3.

T.O. yeah he is going to want some $$$, but he isn't going to be as expensive as any other top 3 reciever. Not to mention he would probably like to have insentive based contracts. T.O. with all the controversey surrounding his is out to prove his critics wrong. I personally think that he is going to want to show everybody that he is a team player and not a cancer. He also knows that if he doesn't show that he is a team player and not a cancer he'll probably not get another chance to play in the NFL.

I would love to see T.O. in a Miami uniform for the rest of his career. Other teams would shake with fear knowing they have, T.O., Chambers, Booker, Ronnie, Ricky, and our good (getting better) defense coming to play them. You throw in a good free agent QB into that mix and you have a superbowl contender.

Just my personal take on the T.O. situation.

Personally, I say keep Gus as the starter and grab a guy in the middle of the draft that fits the system. I'm partial to Omar Jacobs at this point because his stock really slipped based of his injury plauged year and I'm a Falcon fan. He might be a steal in the 3rd or another QB may catch my eye during these bowl weeks. It is going to be interesting to see what happens because there are many different options that could be choosen. I think I'll trust Saban's final decision though, he seems to really know what he is doing.
