Yahoo-miami Merged x2:offseason progress\Yahoo Sports predict 10-6 this year.

Sounds good to go 10-6 but this fella has an opinion just like the ones who will say the Phins will go 5-11.

Good to see positive press for what it's worth.

Wow, Yahoo Sports predict 10-6 this year.

That's the highest win total I've read on any site or news paper..and someone who actually seems like he followed what the dolphins did this offseason..

Sure, there are questions. Last year, the Dolphins were the beneficiaries of a relatively soft schedule, and that's not likely to be the case again. They won't be sneaking up on anyone this year. The Wildcat formation will no longer be a surprise to anyone. And a certain quarterback is recovered from a knee injury and expects to return the rival New England Patriots to dominance.

But the Dolphins are still right there in the mix. It'll be year two of the Sparano regime, everyone will be more comfortable with the system, and the stability and confidence that developed last year should only grow this year.

This is a reasonable take - barring a spate of injuries.

Miami's record in the division should remain at least 4-2. With the return of Brady and departure of Farve, Phins may exchange a splits with the Pats and Jets for a Miami sweep of the QB less NJ and dropping both Pats games. Does anyone really think that TO will make much difference given that Buffalo does not have an OL?

The variable in the division is whether Miami can split with the Pats again. The key to beating the Pats is to beat the hell out of Tom Brady. The Phins D is designed to do just that, with an enhanced pass rush and lots of very large reinforcements in the secondary.

Outside the division, there is no doubt Miami has a tougher row to hoe. On the other hand, the young nucleus should be better, the team has upgraded its vets and Pat White reinvigorates the wildcat into a multi dimensional threat. I can see the Wild Pat alone stealing a win against an unprepared D.

Miami is not a team anyone is going to want to play. The Phins are at that point where they are not elite, but they are dangerous enough to beat any team in the league if the opponent does not bring their A game. This team could win anywhere between 9-11 games with 10 being a reasonable number.

I go down though the schedule and take it game by game and for the life of me I can't see more than 7-8 wins for this team. Will we be better this year?? Oh yeah but we play monster teams every week, then again I could only see 5 wins last year at this time. Hopefully I will be wrong again, but 10 wins seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

why not us?

With the talent in the division and the tough schedule for the entire East(people seem to think Miami is the only one with a tough schedule but every East team has practically the same schedule expect for two games), I think a 10-6 record would win the division.

very possible.

I think both 10-6 and 6-10 are in the realms of possibility (a lot hinging on injuries to key positions...OT, NT, etc.).

I like 10-6 better but not as much as 11-5...

I think that you are hitting the nail on the head...I don't think that anyone expects the Jets or Bills to challenge for the AFC East but the Pats and Dolphins play a very similar schedule. Also, the Pats didn't exactly have poor QB play last year. They lost games because their defense wasn't that good, not because they couldn't score points. That has not changed this year. The Pats are a very good team and I believe have a 50% chance of winning the AFCE with a record in the 11-5 or 12-4 range. I think the Dolphins have a 45% chance of winning the AFCE with the same record. The Fins and Pats WILL beat most of the teams they line up against and will prove to be two of the better teams in the NFL and I believe both will be in the playoffs. The big question is how much they (Fins & Pats) will have left for the playoffs after playing such a ridiculous schedule. I say the Fins have an advantage due to the extreme conditioning program and physical playing style but we shall see. I also truly believe that the Pats Defense and Brady have seriously benefitted from some questionable scouting practices and I do not see Brady having another record setting year...it just ain't going to happen. I'm with Porter, you've got to beat the man to be the man and until that happens, the Dolphins are definitely the MAN!

I was just looking at Brady's stat lines for past years to make sure that I wasn't talking out my butt saying that his return, statistically speaking, shouldn't make that much difference. Other than 2007 when Brady, Welker, and Moss went nuts, his stat lines are very similar to Cassels for 2002-2006. He threw a couple more touchdowns and a couple more interceptions each year than Cassel did last year but threw for similar yardage, completing %, etc. The Pats better sure up their defense because Brady would not have given them too much more last year, if any, than Cassel did except maybe some leadership but I can't understand why anyone would listen to that candy-a$$ anyway.

I took a real hard look at our schedule and I admit it looks tough. But Im loving the additions we have made. 13-3 is so possible to me.
