Yahoo Sports: Dolphins should make sean payton head coach-good read

A few things...
1. He has the "right" names down as candidates. Good job by people here pointing to the possible candidates. Its like he has been on this site.
2. He is right that Payton is a home run candidate.
3. I am not still not crazy about giving compensation for a coach, but I understand if he is the right guy.
4. Robinson will be proven to be completely wrong come March about the cap.

awesome read. he had some really good points. i would love peyton, but the big question is for how much? i dont want to lose top draft picks. im really not sure who i want anymore. but there are some good arguments in this article

We will have $50-$70 million in cap space if we cut jennings mitchell misi grimes wake restructure cameron and push suh tannehill contracts into 2017

I will say that Haley, Marrone and Jackson would be very interesting coaches.

I am at a point that I could care less if the players "like" their coach as long as they respect him.

I'm down for Sean Peyton... The Saints like to trade lets give them our 3rd overall pick from 2013 - Dion Jordan for Sean Peyton.

thank god. Though I would certainly attempt to restructure Wake not Cameron.

He stated several times about all the 'talent' on the roster. Im sorry but dont see all the talent he is referring to.

Oline, LB's, second corner, another safety, more players on the D line needed. If Miller leaves another RB is needed. We have very few 'playmakers' on this team still that can turn a close game into a win.

As far as the list of possible coaches, as Hayden said alot of them were mentioned on the site as well. I would hate to have to give up compensation for a coach. However considering the way be have been drafting maybe Im making a fuss over nothing.

At this point , I'd give away a second round pick for Peyton . Easily

I'm on board with getting Sean Payton. The question is, will Ross FINALLY be able to land that big home run after consistently striking out the last few coaching searches?

I cringe every time someone mentions Mcdaniels. Nothing without Brady and BB. I see a guy that would be in way over his head.

My prediction:

Step 1: Ross and the Dolphins once again "Go Big" and offer the farm to and for Sean Payton. Jim Schwartz would be the target as DC. Payton will run the offense with a glorified puppet in place.
Step 2: We discover that, as with all previous attempts to "Go Big" and grab media attention, we fall completely on our faces because Payton doesn't want the job or the price is JUST out of reach.
Step 3: Tannenbaum exercises his original plan that he had to shelve while Ross made a fool of himself and we hire Eric Mangini.

The names in play during all of this for HC or OC/DC: Sean Payton, Eric Mangini, Josh McDaniels, Jim Schwartz and Todd Haley.

Tannenbaum will NOT be hiring his HC outside of the Parcells' tree. Look there and you'll find your real candidates.

Payton is the prize, Mangini is the reality.

Whatever...Clearly we need something. But I cringe that whatever we get isn't the right thing and of-course those saying..Yes, to Payton today! Will be the same one saying how they predicted he wasn't the right fit from the beginning if things don't turn out differently.

My biggest question concerning S.Payton are as followings

1) What kind of coach is S.Payton without Drew Brees?
2) Who will be his coordinators OC/DC?

If you believe the Parcells' tree theory, he has huge respect for Marrone. Just something to keep in mind. I think the guy can coach. If I was a college, I would be all over him.

Also, not enough credit is going to Haley on how he has coached around some brutal, untimely injuries. He is a guy that I would gamble on that he learned from last time. Plus, he gives an intellectual advantage on game day.

I like some of the candidates this year as a fit in Miami.
