Yahoo sports is saying that Frerotte sustained a concussion in yesterday's game and will go in for further tests this week...familiar story for Frerotte, but based on the fact that Sage can't handle the blitz--most of those yards and td's the Fins got this week was in garbage time when the D was in a Prevent with tons of soft spots...we saw the true Sage against the Browns and the game he played in last season...This game was just an abberation.... i'd much rather see Frerotte in there vs the Chargers....

"The Dolphins lost Gus Frerotte to a concussion in the third quarter down 23-3, forcing Sage Rosenfels into action. Rosenfels connected frequently with Chris Chambers (15 catches, 238 yards) and got great production out of Ricky Williams and Ronnie Williams to lead the comeback. Frerotte will undergo tests early this week to determine his availability for Week 14, but Rosenfels will likely get the nod against San Diego after this performance (272 yards and two touchdowns)."

When a team is trying their heart out to stop a 20 point debaucle is not garbage time my friend. Garbage time is when a team is up by 30 and they put their subs in, not when their trying to protect a lead. Give credit where credit is due.

I think I have to agree with almost everything you said.Although they DID blitz alot, our Oline was able to pick it up. The Bills were giving our receivers 10+ yard buffer every play. Props to Sage for a great comeback win, but I'd rather see Gus in there to start.

Dolphins better play better vs the good pass rushing Chargers or Sage is going to sustain a concussion too, garbage time or not.

Reality is no one knows what Sage can do. He has started two games, subbed for one. Kind of a jacka$$ article.

keep quiet, youre just mad cause sage played better than ferotte anyway. stop hating. the man played a good game.

I support Sage. I hope he starts this week so we can see which of his 2 games this year was a fluke, the Browns game or the Bills game.

Wait, so Buffalo played the prevent defense all the way to a loss? It sure looked to me like they blitzed occasionally. Did you maybe notice Ricky Williams catching four passes on blitzes?

After the Cleveland game I thought Sage was a total and complete bust. Never going to play again. However, yesterday he showed some real poise in the pocket and made quite a few Good passes. Nothing that makes me say I want him as the qb for next year, but I'd be interested to see him play another game. That being said I think I would still be more comfortable with Gus playing (wow, did I really just say that?) this sunday.

Did you watch the game? Garbage time and no blitz?????

They were throwing everything at him!

I agree with the SENTIMENT of this post, but not with the particulars.

What we saw of Rosenfels against the Bills was Sage operating a two-minute drill offense for essentially 10 minutes and 41 seconds.

It was not "garbage time" and the Bills were not in "prevent defense". Sage operated almost exclusively out of the no-huddle, hurry-up type offense. And, thanks to a defense that forced the Bills to punt the ball four times in four drives, and possess the ball for only 8 minutes and 16 seconds of the 19 minute time period, Sage was able to convert five total drives into 3 touchdowns, one turnover on downs, and one interception.

Unfortunately, when he plays against the Chargers, he won't have the luxury of a no-huddle offense unless we're down by a significant number.

If I were Scott Linehan and I'm looking at our no-huddle offense, which has been extremely effective this season, I would game plan certain periods of no-huddle regardless of the score. At the very beginning of the game I would do my absolute BEST to slow down the game and keep the Chargers offense off the field with running, first downs, and moving the chains...out of sheer self-defense because our defense seems to be practically useless during the first five minutes of any game.

Then, if I have survived the onslaught of the first period of the game and maybe even have a small lead and a favorable time of possession, I would go no-huddle to begin the second quarter and keep piling it on until half time. Build a 10 point lead at any point of the game if you can and forget about the time of possession. You have to get them playing from behind to get them into a funk.

I'd start the 3rd quarter running the ball again and then follow up once again with a no-huddle in the 4th quarter as their D starts to feel tired from all the changes in pace.
