Yeremiah Bell is overrated

I like him and want him back but when reading this board he always seems to get a free pass. A safety should be the main guy on your defense making plays. It seems to me whenever he gets an interception, its a tipped ball. Everyone is on channing for not making plays and rightfully so but i feel like channing and bell are the same type of contributors, just solid players. While bell is a very solid tackler, he doesnt make the game changing plays this defense needs. He's better than gibril but lets be honest his pass coverage isnt anything to brag about either. Yeremiah has started 4 years for us and has 3 interceptions...not good.
 
believe me,we could do much worse than Bell.....
 
Well since all of our LB's suck Bell is always having to come up to make the tackles... when your Safety's lead the team in tackles there is a problem. I think Bell would have more of an impact if we had LB's who were cleaning up RB's at or near the line of scrimmage more often... you know doing their job!

I disagree. Put Bell on the Ravens or the Steelers defense and those stats change.
 
im not saying bell is the problem of this defense, i agree we could do much worse, hes solid for us but hes not making game changing plays. He got torched at times this season as well. Its not jus gibrils fault with all the deep plays we give up.

He's not a pass coverage safety he is a run stopper. I don't see how the second leading tackler in the league among safety's can be overrated. He finished just 1 tackle behind the leader B. Dawkins who by the way only had 2 int's to Bells 3 and Dawkins made the Pro Bowl.

What doesn't make sense is to line a guy up next to him (Wilson) that is basically the same kind of player. We need a pass cover guy playing in the FS spot.
 
Bell is decent, if we didn't have a ton of holes on defense we could use an upgrade. Not going to happen now.
 
C'mon are you really trying to say our best defensive player who gives max effort on the field does not deserve praise for improving his coverage skills and running guys down across the field with a 10 yard head start. He never gives up on a play and shows good instincts. Who would you rather have playing ss Bob Sanders? At least he's not over rated.
 
Bell receives a free pass in this forum because he earns it. He is solid for us, he leads this team in tackles every year. If anyone on this defense can be considered solid, it is Yeremiah.
 
He is the only player on the defense i felt played to his ability this year. and maybe taylor
 
He is always right where he needs to be to make a play. He seems to have a knack for it.
