I really liked what I saw from Sims and having a regular sized tight end on the field might have helped the redzone efficiency and we didn't lose anything throwing the ball because Landry and Gibson got more targets. (I don't think I will be too sad if we don't resign Clay if he wants too much money)

Starks looked terrible and hasn't looked well this year good thing we got a good deal for him he might be a cap casualty in the off season.

Odrick and Mitchell seem like our best dts and if we lose odrick I think it will be a big blow to our defense

You could probably cut Starks loose in the offseason, financially it makes sense. You can probably keep Odrick for around the same rate, and he's younger. Get a cheap run plugger in FA. Sims is a good #2 TE but that's a position we need to add size to. Fortunately Clay has hurt his value this year and he might not be too expensive to keep as a weapon.

I really wish Rishard would get more of a run because we need to move on from Hartline after the season. Would like to see what we have with Rishard, because as it stands WR is at the top of my wish list in round 1.

Some team that doesn't need an in-line TE will pay Clay a decent amount in FA. How many other TE's float around and get signed to good contracts based on physical ability? I think his value is going to be more than his worth.

Rishard is going to be here while two out of three of Gibson, Hartline, and Wallace won't. He's young, talented, and affordable. We were in a roster crunch and tried to trade him or Gibson and didn't get fair value. If Matthews wasn't worth keeping around he would have been cut after preseason. The team knew he was too good to outright cut and after this season, when Gibson and Hartline's contracts are vastly too high, that won't change.

Clays been battling injuries all season. If we let him go, we may be sitting here next year saying why did we not resign this guys again? We spent a loooong time developing Clay. He's undersized, but he's pretty unique. Maybe the subpar season in stats nets us a cheaper price to resign him.

I don't doubt he's gonna be here, I doubt whether we'll know if he's a potential #2 starter come next offseason. That would be important to know going into the draft. We know what Hartline is, Mathews doesn't get enough run to get a good sense. That's what my point was with my post.

Matthews would be three, we won't be cutting all three veteran receivers.

You're not hearing me. I want to know if Matthews is a legit option as an outside receiver. Wallace is an outside receiver, Hartline is an overpaid outside receiver who could play the slot, and then we have Landry and Gibson who's best fits are inside. I want to know if Matthews is a guy who can play opposite Wallace in 3 wide sets.

I don't get the anti-Hartline views I hear. Good route runner, good hands, gets open and makes big plays when he's hit in stride. Maybe overpaid, but if we're not cap-strapped, that's Ross' problem.

31 receptions, 360 yds, 1 TD, for some reason he's not working with this O. Have to get him more involved or say adios.

It's the roster structure's problem if he's overpaid. There's a salary cap, gotta use it effectively. Gotta upgrade positions that are getting average performances, especially when they're getting top shelf salaries. He's fine but he doesn't bring an element to this offense that doesn't make him expendable.

The issue is that Hartline doesn't really offer much after the catch. Even when he's hit in stride as soon as he sees a defender he drops to the ground to avoid getting hit. He doesn't break tackles like Landry, he's not elusive in the open field and unlike Landry he's not looking to score every time he has the ball...hence the 11 career TDs in over 4 and a half seasons.

And next year we will be cap strapped. I'm guessing we'll only be about $4 million under the cap without making any cuts or restructuring. And that's with a number of free agents we'd probably like to bring back...it's also not enough to sign our draft class next year.

In years past, sure. He gets open 25% of the snaps he's in on, from analysis I saw somewhere else. Not worth it. Can't create separation.
