MIAMI'S NEW LEMON QB
As much as the Dolphins wanted Lemon, they also wanted to be rid of Feeley, who represented an ugly link to the previous regime.

So with one trade, the Dolphins accomplished two goals. They cut their connection to Feeley and they landed their own quarterback, who has impressed in the preseason.

Some personnel people around the league don't think Lemon is any more than a backup quarterback, even with his strong arm and quick feet.

But remember this: Dolphins general manager Randy Mueller pushed for Lemon, who has yet to play an NFL regular-season snap. Back when he was the Saints' general manager, Mueller pushed for an equally unknown quarterback, and the Saints turned out to be fairly happy with Aaron Brooks.

Not much new in it, except a sobering reminder that a lot of personnel still see Lemon as nothing more than a backup QB.

Randy Mueller knows QB's. This is the only reason I have faith in this trade.

And one of Mueller's earlier trades was a "no-named" quarterback. Nice little tid-bit. Not saying Lemon will or won't be a decent NFL QB, just that Mueller might have an eye for talent that some GM's might not.

That doesn't mean Mueller can do no wrong. Not ALL of his quarterbacks turned out to be solid gold.

People should follow the link cuz there's a good bit about Feeley in there. San Diego will absolutely positively not pay anything close to the salaries left on Feeley's contract, and the article says right now they aren't sure if Feeley will even be on the roster after this season is done.

The ultiimate fall from grace. From traded for a 2nd round pick, given an $18 million contract to be Miami's future, to traded to a team just to be a one-year loose band-aid that holds down the 3rd QB spot that was vacated in order to acquire a 6th round draft pick.

.

Exactly, Lemon is a good prospect who might turn out to be a diamond in a rough, most likely will be a good backup or could fail. Only time will tell.

I love your enthusiasim for this team and the coaching staff CK and I also hope this kid turns into something special, I just don't see this kid as anything more then a player that wows us form time to time. I would be thrilled if he were just a solid backup. I think Miami has other pans for QB of the future and Lemon may get a chance to be that guy, I just think with the QB's coming out of college and the FA next year we will have our franchise QB from one of those two avenues. just my opinion.

Hey Everybody,

I think we have to give Randy Mueller the benfit of the doubt. He seems to be the master of the "diamond in the rough" move. After all, before New Orleans how many people heard of Joe Horn.

We need to exercise patience. Someone else on this board (can't remember who) said that this isn't even Saban's team yet. He's seeing what people can do. This is one long 16 week training camp.
