I am going to keep this simple for the sake of time and the arguement. I have selected a few QB's the we could possibly pick up as a developmental type QB (#3) on the roster. Pick your choice and describe why you believe your selection merits support.

The QB's are....#1 Berlin, #2 Jarrod Lorenzon(sp) 295 pound southpaw on the giants who the giants are intrigued by but inorder to get him on the practice squad he will have to pass through waivers. #3 Tim Couch and #4 Rohan Davey or #5 fill in the blank ( try to pick a back-up / 3rd QB who would be available from another teams practice squad or off waivers)

Personally I am a little conflicted. I have seen that MONSTER lorenzen from the giants and wow, a project but...well, take a look for him if you have time. I like Davey because of his potential but more importantly because he knows sabans expectations. ( I also have this weird suspision that he may in the back of his head...and his agents, may be trying to play his way out of new england and into miami. just a hunch but somrthing an agent would not be above trying) and then there is couch...played for a crap team, got injured and showed nada for G.B. - you have to look twice at a former #1 who has / had talent.

What would you do...Mr. Saban?

stick with gus, aj , sage put berlin on practice squad. scout college qb's or possibly think about one of the san diego qb's.

..Shop AJ take ANYTHING we can get..take a long hared look at Couch, have Sage be the backup until Couch learns the system..cut Berlin....

..Next year get a productive QB via the draft let Couch take over in 06..if he sucks bring in the rookie.
..Try to make the best out of a SH-tty situation at QB.

I dont wanna be Saban for this situation.

1. Gus
2. A.J.
3. Berlin

* Trade Sage for a 7th (with conditions up to 5th-6th)

* Look next year for a long-term QB solution.

There's a Speilman...err..."Sucker" born every minute. I think we could definately get a minimum 7th round pick for Sage.

Yea i would say you could def get a 6 or 7 round pick for Sage

Dump Sage... He's had more than ample opportunity to show his worth with all the lousy QB's we've had while he's been here.

Berlin to the practice squad

Bring on Tim Couch let him learn the system and see if he can rekindle his talent next year. Why? Simple, Couch obviously had a lot of talent coming out of college. He got mixed up in rookie growing pains and serious injury problems. His whole problem with throwing the long ball in Cleaveland may have been a product of this shoulder injury. If so, giving up Sage Rosenfels' 3rd string spot is a no risk bet to see if the Phins could get Couch back on track.

This season rides on Gus and AJ.
Gus probably being the better choice simply because his knowledge of the offense is only going to help the team. Not to mention that he also seems to be just plain outplaying AJ at this point as well.

Next year you search once again for an above avg. QB. either in a vet FA or the draft.

Not much else Saban can do.

I'd really look into Seneca Wallace. The Seahawks will be set with Hasselbeck for a while, so I could see them giving up Seneca for a reasonable price. With our O-Line questionable, Seneca could make it look better then it is and maybe instill a little confidence. Maybe thats just wishful thinking. He has also looked great in preseason the last 2 years (I know, this year just began). I think we could trade AJ and a late pick for him.

Cut AJ and that is coming from one of his biggest supporters. I really believe this kid has a maturity issue similair to Ryan Leaf. Start Gus until he gets hurt or craps out. (I say maybe week 5). Then have some fun at Qb and start Sage a couple of games and then Berlin a couple. Then next year draft 2 young qbs hopefully at least one near the top of the draft. There was a young qb taken by San Francisco last year by the name of Pickett. He was on track for the heisman until nuehiesel (sp) got caught gambling. He is from Idaho. His Dad was all around champion cowboy in the early 80's. The kid is big and strong ( I played a golf tourney last year he was in so I personally can vouch for the size) and set all kinds of passing records at Washington. I bring him up as I expect him to get cut as Ratay and Smith seem to be the favorites at San Fran. He could be interesting and cheap. Little biased with the Idaho thing but not a homerish ideai.
