I really need some well thought out answers. If you were the coach, would you, at 1-3.........change the quarterback?

I am not blaming Daunte for losing, by any means. He played better. Booker dropped a nice crossing route pass that the commentator said would of went to the house. I couldn't see the fiied from my couch view, but that is what he said.

my reason for change is i wonder if the obvious shot guns on 2nd and 4 are because daunte cannot backpedal fast enough to go under center tp play action pass? If that is the case, why shouldn't Joey get a chance.

It may implode if he sits daunte....I realize that, but that is what great or good coaches do, make the tough calls to improve the team. the o-line is challenged, but Daunte is too........Brady takes over for a heavily sacked and oft injured Bledsoe. The team played better. Joey isn't Brady, but neither is cullpepper. I want him to do well and look for all the positive, but I wonder with out studying the film.....if the reads are there and the ball is to slow to be released? I wonder if the play calling or lack of play action is by design......if so the defense has an edge reading pass/run.......not good for the offensive line...BUT THE PLAYERS CAN'T SAY THAT.

Is Culpepper a better QB than Harrington? Yes
Will Culpepper get back to form if he sits on the sideline? No
Do we start Harrington? No

I think you have to start Culpepper next week, but if he keeps playing like this, I think we have no choice but to get Harrington some time (even if its to only get us better trade value for him)

I really don't think Culpepper is healthy, and you heard all the rumors about him not being able to read defenses which seems to be true.

But I also think the O-line play and Marlarkeys horrible play calling is a major factor also.

So, yes start Culpepper this week, but I really fear that the Pats will have schemes that will just make him look worse.

After that, I really don't know, I'm just so frustrated by this team. I did not believe all the Super Bowl hype, but I also thought we would be 3-1 at this point.

saban can't find any excuses after 1-4, can he?

There is just many things wrong with the team right now that it's really hard to zero in on Daunte's performance alone. If our O-Line were decent and DC were not making the reads fast enough then I'd say bench him....but I don't have much faith in Joey doing a whole lot better at this point. I think he can move around a bit better then DC right now so thats about it....probably able to buy a bit more time.

Also, as Saban mentioned in his PC....it's not just the O-Line thats stinking it up.....the whole team is just not executing correctly and they are shooting themselves in the foot. Changing QB's probabaly wont have much effect on that.

I think NJ is right....give Cpep this week and really try and focus on his performance. If he stinks it up and we go down 1-4....you would almost HAVE to make a change.

Seriously, with the state of the team I doubt Saban pulls the switcharoo, and hooks Daunte. I think if were 1-10 then maybe he might, just to give Joey some trade value but I don't remember Joey being all that decisive up in Det and cannot believe he would suddenly be much better here, especially behind that O-line that we have.

I think, in order to evaluate the true status of Culpepper relative to his future as the leader of this offense, or any offense, you must continue to start him.

The future is the key right now and we have to know whether or not he can regain his old form or be good enough to lead this team to be a contender year in and out. I also want to state that I think that his issue with not being able to read defenses is overblown at this point.

Even though the ultimate success or failure of the offense falls on Daunte's shoulders, in my opinion, you cannot make Duante the scapegoat when there are a mulitiude of failures comming from almost every facet of the team as a whole.

Great post. I agree completely.

Joey took all the snaps today. Culpepper is hurt???

First I'm hearing of this, maybe its the X-Files starting????

21 sacks, it is a miracle he isn't out of the game due to injury

Unless he's injured........

:foundout: :(

well how prophetic that turned out to be, Daunte got the hook due to "shoulder injury", nudge nudge wink wink, and then we hear well he didn't complete rehab and he isn't up to speed etc.

My thought is that we brought Harrington here to start for Culpepper until CP was fully fit. We just made it worse by putting him in there not ready to go, unable to move properly and getting sacked 21 times and maybe hurting his confidence along the way.

If he wasn't ready to go, then why didn't we play Harrington from the beginning, we could have hardly been any worse record wise and DC wouldn't have been rushed in and maybe delay his recovery further.

I don't hold DC accountable for his failures as he is not the DC who is healthy with the Vikes. I hold the coaches more responsible for not following their original script and ultimately letting a really competitive person sway their opinion and affect the decision making and pushing this team backwards.
