You cannot be surprised at the poor image of the Phins in the media anymore

All Miami teams have a bad image in the media. It doesn't help that a lot of the media is generated in the North East, and most analysts on these media outlets are and always have been Miami haters. It is what it is. The Phins, and Miami teams in general haven't exactly been the spitting image of what to look up to. The Heat get reamed for not winning the NBA Finals on a daily basis. According to ESPN the Heat were supposed to fizzle out sometime during the playoffs and not even make the Finals. They proved them wrong and still get crap for it. They love to hate Miami. I mean just look at their opinions on UM's debacle.

Phin highlights have been non-existent for years now, unless it's for getting destroyed by the Pats. I can't tell you how many times last year on Sports Center's sidebar thing a Dolphin game highlights were up there for a second and then it got booted for some other bs. So be it. We have to prove the media wrong and produce wins.

LOL I always noticed that too. And on that blitz show segment, I don't think Miami has ever been featured on there as a winning team unless they won a game they shouldn't and it's all about the team they beat losing it and not Miami winning it. I don't even bother with ESPN anymore unless it's to watch a live sports event.

Espn and other media outlets are pro Yankees, Red Sox, Lakers, Steelers and Cowboys. Just the way it is. If fans were not sell-outs and actually rooted for the area teams we wouldn't have this problem. Fans are weak. Media outlets direct their attention to where the fan's attention is. Every single professional franchise in FL has struggled with attendance, image at some point. That's what you get in high tourist areas, people want to do other things besides get into sports.

when we have a winning record and make the playoffs we will get more love. thats how it goes. c

I think you are wrong.
There are certain media pundits(former players) that have an axe to grind with the Fins. They pile on, only presenting a diminished view of our team, and completely ignoring the improvements. We have been bad or mediocre for years, and are continueing to be the punchline for the late night and prime time comedians. I could care less about it, but it does exist. Our record for the last 3 years is 25-24...not exactly a doormat.
On the other hand, there are still a couple of media guys who are in our corner and talk about our improvement and potential.
When the Pats, Jets, and Bills do well, the northeast media treat them as darlings.
The only solution is excellent management, superior coaching and winning. We are failing in all those areas except for Nolan. He is our only bright spot as I see it. I am sure some of the assistants are quality as well.

You might have one or two. It's not like entire media corporations hold meetings to determine how much hate they're giving the Dolphins and whether or not they need to give more as some here make it sound.

ESPN makes money off of ratings. Period. So there's always going to be more discussion about the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, and probably the Washington Redskins. These are your most popular teams in the entire country and good or bad, these teams are ALWAYS interesting because of their name. Eyeballs come to TV sets when you talk about these teams. The Dolphins aren't on that level. Then you move on to teams that WIN or have interesting storylines. We aren't winning and we don't have a whole lot of interesting storylines on this team OTHER than QB situation. After that, you take the rest of the crap and you simply cover it for the sake of covering all 32 NFL teams.

But what happens when there's negative press or reviews for the Dolphins? What happens here at FinHeaven?

It generates debate and discussion. You guys are watching regardless of what they say about Miami so it really doesn't matter WHAT they say. You're gonna watch just to hear what they're saying.

when we were fighting for the division in 08, every single week I specifically remember trent dilfer looking like a penis and saying, no way the phins win this division... they were 1-15 last year, and he had that stupid grin on his face saying, chad pennington isn't a good enough qb to take a team into the playoffs... and the irony was totally lost on him.

every week he said we would lose, and every week we won. and then the last week of the season he continued to talk about how bad we were when we went into new york and took the division.

I know that was a few years ago, but I think there is a bias against miami, and even when we were winning, there was still no respect.

Well it is what it is...There are far more people(millions) up north. And less down south..So they focus on big city's for big ratings(ESPN NY,LA,CHI)

There is no conspiracy, but anytime a rival is down, the powers that be will try to keep a foot on your throat. These guys will get paid more.
Today you have Bruschi and Edwards, yesterday it was Peter King.
Bob Golic, Deon Sanders, Dan Dierdorf,Cross, ...and more. Should I continue?
I would say that 90% are negative of the Fins right now.
I just ignore what they are saying, but I do remember when the Fins were respected. Now they are kicked around like the Cincinnati Bengals.

I remember that. It was "redemption" when we got manhandled in the playoffs for them.

There's no stupid conspiracy against Miami teams. The Dolphins just suck balls right now and thus won't get media hype.
