You know what really stinks???

Trade for Billy Volek. I'm telling you, this guy's no backup scrub. He's led the NFL again in preseason this year with over 500 yards passing(!)

I would love to trade for Volek. Volek really did a good job when he started last year. I really wished that we traded for him instead of Feeley last year.

yes, they all suck. we know what is coming. lots of potential. flashes of what could happen, particulary in the ground game. o- line will improve. defense will be solid. but it will all put an even more glaring and white hot light on the qb. especially when weve been fighting for 4 qtrs very hard looks like we got a chance to win, but aj or gus will throw for a reverse 6 and we will lose. thus increasing the attention to the college qbs. you dont think linehan saban and muller especially arent already looking at draft picks for the 06 draft. most definately they are. randy is probably watching game film all day and into the night. scott is probably right there with him when his work with the o is done for the day. scott is telling randy and saban exactly what he needs in a qb. coach hud is also making sure they know he needs an lineman or 2 as well. just relax. we know our qbs are gonna kill us this year so lets sit back and enjoy what might be the beggining of the most dominant backfield in football in a many a year.lets watch the defense and see them progress. ripping aparoffenses sometimes and giving up tds on others cause they are still learning the system. im gonna say it now. crucify if you want. the 2006 draft will be possibaly the best in team history. muller can spot talent as well as anybody and better than most. saban aint to shabby either. just look at the draft we just had. compared to the sad shape we were in at last years end.

you are right and it is a fans only choice, that is to sit back and TRY and enjoy what some call BAD football. I would like to think they are holding things back for the regular season and Saban's motivation ability will show, but that is likely wishful thinking.

if we had even a MARGINAL QB, we'd be a contender in the AFC East. I mean look at the defense, RBs, WRs, TE etc.

Marginal QB and we win 10-12 games.

I agree. Just somebody thats consistent. To the Fiedler comments; we had to cut him. He was overpriced and shown that he couldnt get it done when it counted. Im looking for the qb of our future coming in next years draft. I dont see Saban trading picks for somebodys backup.

If we had a marginally better OL, the QB wouldn't be such an issue...

Trade what for him?

Even if you had a marginal Qb, you would be at the bottom of the division. Your o-line has shown very little. Your running game is as good as the o-line can carry them, which isn't far. The secondary is clueless at times. Looked bad last night against the run.

Sad, but unfortunately very true. Realism isn't being pessimistic. You can't fix your problems if you don't identify them. We aren't going to have a good year. But the seeds are being planted for a foundation. That's the thing to look for this year. That's really more important than W/Ls. Building a foundation gives you what the Pats have enjoyed.

You REALLY think that this team is simply a QB away from making the playoffs? You're fooling yourself. This team is in re-building mode because

1. There is little talent in some areas (OL, DB, QB)
2. there is very little depth team wise.
3. As a whole they lack consistensy

These problems need to be addressed before they can contend again.

maybe someone will finally admit that we cut a decent QB this offseason and kept a BUM!!!! Feidler only won 29 games over the course of 3 years. This WILL come back to haunt us (maybe twice a year!)
I'll admit we cut a "decent" QB. I'll also say I still would have cut him in the face of inneptitude at the QB position right now. You see, allowing yourself a "decent" QB will always get you "decent" things, but never great things. Getting rid of Fiedler will make us get worse before we get better, but at least there is hope for better as we look to upgrade the QB situation. Yes it would have been nice to upgrade this year (Lord knows these boards would be alot friendlier), but Saban didn't see the guy he wanted and decided to wait.

To put it another way, let's say Saban and his Dolphins go (God forbid) 3-13 this year. Do we put on our revisionists hats and say "guess we shot ourselves in the foot because DW at least got us 4 wins"? No. Why? Because we as humans value hope over all other things, even when that "other" thing is the safe thing to do.

Ok that's it. Come Tuesday Sept 13, it's on. Meet me on here and we'll see how far you and your slob Broncos did against us. I'll be at the game. We will not lose

I agree 110%. Maybe we trade the Jets a 2nd rounder to get him back.

Thats the problem. We now have to wait this year and there is no guarantee that whoever we draft next year will work out anyway.

Agreed. Best thing to do is look at what you have this year. Forget about 4-12 or 10-6, find out who your players are and build from them. Is the secondary going to gel? Do the Phins have to draft a DT? Is Carey the answer? You have one year to identify the problem build from it, maybe next year go .500 and the third year compete in the playoffs.

I wish we could get Volek too but I dont see us having anyone we could trade for him. It is looking like a repeat of 2004. :(
