Young Phins Stepping It Up?

L Miller, D Jordan, Will Davis, and Jamar Taylor..... I think we see a huge improvement out of all 4 this coming up season.. I would include D.Thomas if he's in a Dolphins uni... Is Thigpen going to improve in ST's??? Very disappointed last season with him..

Our special teams suffered greatly last year with the big turnover. We wer VG in 2011 and 2012 but horrible last year in blocking and tackling. It was not on Thigpen.

i never understood why it's a big deal to start your rookies. both super bowl playing teams are in the bottom 4.

Well... We weren't in the playoffs so it's a problem.

that makes no sense. more rookie playing time does not increase your chances of making the playoffs. Seeing as how the top 7 teams with the most rookie playing time didn't make the playoffs.

it's about preparing your rookies to play in the NFL,, period! I guess the coaching staff on the Dolphins have a different approach then the rest of the teams.. hmmm

Maybe because it's more difficult for a rookie to gain playing time on a good team versus
what we were last season(injuries also played a huge part why our draft class played so little) at least
that's what I'm telling myself

All of the 2013 draft class needs to f*cking step up. None of them had ANY impact and Miller is also in that group. Matthews did a hell of a job filling for Gibson when he went down, and Clay was a beast.

Then what's the excuse for the top 7 teams having the most rookies playing, and not making the playoffs? lol

I think you will have Dallas Thomas and Sam Brenner take nice steps this year. Last year the Guard spots were pretty much handed to both Incognito and Jerry. I think with Smith, Brenner, Thomas, and possible draft pick and vet there will be wide open competition for both guard spots.

Dion Sims should take a reasonably large step forward. He's not eminently talented, but with a year under his belt and the fact that he has the size and strength to be a good blocking TE that's not a complete liability in the passing game he'll probably get a lot more snaps than he did as a rookie. Assuming we don't draft a tight end early. I would imagine his ceiling is to be an Anthony Fasano type TE who blocks well and is O.K. in the passing game, but wont scare anybody.

I like Sims, and would be very happy if he turned into another Fasano. We really do need a TE who can block worth a damn, and if he becomes an end zone threat like Fasano, more better.

I remember former GM,s and coaches saying that every rookie starter is very likely to cost you a game during the season, just due to rookie mistakes. That makes sense to me.

While last year's draft was off timing for Ireland, I think many of these guys will develop nicely. They are getting an F grade this year in draft guides, but that is based on them being ready to play last year. I think that grade will change, plus it is crazy to give a grade anyway.

Sims started out great last season and then they went away from him.. Not sure why. I think Sims will step it up this season..
