So we have finished game one of our preseason...some sloppy plays some great plays but a consistent effort from our guys and alot of guys fought very hard and here is my assessment and what i took from the game

  • Starters looked good. First drive wasnt great on O but got a rhythm on the second one and move the ball on our third one when we were backed up
  • First team D looked tremendous. Lots of 3 and outs lots of pressure and great coverage from our backfield.
  • Wake played well got some pressure but also got blown up on a few plays. Didnt see him much in coverage but he looks like he will be a player.
  • Sean Smith had a wonderful game capped by an INT. Davis played UGH 3 penalties lets hope he learns.
  • Hartline and Turner both played well they had 50+ yards receiving between them Turner did have a drop or two lets get that fixed.
  • Not running up the middle great but the jags 1st team is stout between the tackles lets hope we get that worked out.
  • Henne looks like he is progressing very well made a mistake came back scored a TD he is the future.
  • White was solid had an INT that wasnt his fault kept a cool head and moved the ball fairly well.
  • ERIC GREEN SUCKS...think Chris Crocker from last year yeah its that bad.
  • No alot of great plays from our 3rd team D till they had the game on the line then finally made a few plays.
  • William is electric made a few mistakes but this kid is exciting to watch return lets hope he continues to progress and can make the team.
  • Ted Ginn looks gret a few good catches and a good end around he seriously just needs more touches and he will go off.
  • But the thing i took most was how hard everyone played every reciever worked for extra yardage and fought to get first downs which is nice to see.
So what did you think anyone have something to add please feel free

Yeah, very impressed by Ginn, Hartline and Turner. Ginn looked like a completely different WR out there, like a true #1 guy. Hartline and Turner are going to be able to contribute very well in the regular season.

Again, rediculously impressed by Sean Smith, couldn't be happier with his first start.

Vontae has some mental errors, but he did have some good coverage too in that game. To me it was an inconsistant game from Vontae, something I expect out of a rookie CB.

What happened with Ronnie? Ricky and Hillard ran well, Ronnie didn't have much to work with.

Like what I saw from all 3 QB's. White needs to slide, even more so in the preseason. I like what I see from Henne, one mistake but its forgivable. Penny is Penny.

Pass rush was great. No we didn't get many sacks (1) but we constantly put pressure on the QB. Jason Taylor looked great from what I saw. Wake was almost always applying pressure on the QB, sweet!

I thought it was an OK game, not great, but not bad either. There are some mental mistakes I would like to see fixed in the next couple of preseason games to feel more comfortable but overall decent first game.

Agreed... Ted Ginn looked good to me. Watching the replays of him coming off the line and the routes he was running.. he looks solid. Had a nice route across the middle and also blew right by the RCB on one play, unfortunately pennington under threw him or else it would have been a TD. He did make a nice play by coming back to the ball and drawing the interference call.

Bess= solid as ever
Ricky= very solid.. nice 1st down pickup when the hole was gone... also a sicckkk spin in the backfield to turn the run into a positive.
Not much to say about the starting defensive unit besides tenacious. They looked excellent.
Im hoping for alot better from eric green... but things arent looking good.
Chris Williams started off slow... but its nice to see he didnt let it get to him.. had some excellent returns throughout the rest of the game.
Not that impressed with henne or pennington tonight... not like they played bad, but not that great either...
Glad to see wilford get that TD
White was solid... especially from a rookie qb standpoint who is learning the system... no help from his recievers tho.
Hilliard was an ANIMAL... running the ball and on special teams
Vontae looked a little lost... like he was playing backyard football where some of those "hits" aren't called
Sean Smith will be our starting RCB if he keeps up this type of play
Safety play was solid
Tony Daniels was playing well from what I saw
Wake flashed some playmaking ability which was good to see... I think he can live up to some of the hype... or atleast be a solid role player

btw, I'm re-watching the game on NFL network. Want to watch the O-line more closely and try to keep an eye out for davis and clemons.

something that stood out to me is we showed one play with white that was ran out of spread/wildcat. white took it for a decent run. just a little glimpse of what might be in store for white.

ginn looked good.
first team d looked solid.
sean smith looked great.
vontae davis some dumb penalties.
ricky solid.
alot of dropped balls.
nate jones still looking good on the blitz.

First team defense is going to be really good.

First team recievers are going to be good, Ginn and Bess. Didnt see Cam though, Turner was decent but dropped a couple, Hartline was good but I need to see more from him.

Oline started rough and got better protecting the passer, but still not good. They need time to gel, especially in the run game.

Qbs were Good, not impressive but good. Penny looked rusty and Henne appeared Jittery. Pat did well for his NFL debut.

Special teams better but not great.

Carpenter is waking up.

You are going to cringe when you see that play of Brandon "turnstile" Frye giving up that sack.

Also... donald thomas looked solid when he came in the game... doing some extra shoving after the play as well which I also like to see

So hard to say much on this game. So many we will count on played so little. It was a good start.

I'm on the fence about Henne after this game. He played ok, but doesnt look like a game changer.

1 st quarter 3 points
ginn was the star for the offence
the front 7 for the D, tons of pressure

first team d solid, the jakes on the line played terrible, chris williams is a good returner, eric green got picked on bad, and pat white is exciting
