Now, we all have varying opinions on how close to being a championship team. So, I sincerely want to know, on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the farthest, how close, or far away, do you think we are to, or from, being Super Bowl Team?

Edit: And please explain your reasoning.

(Please wait for the poll).

I went 5. It seems like everytime we fix one problem another comes up. We are in a position this year to get a capable QB (either in the draft or by aquiring Trent Green) but now Randy McMike and Wes Welker are gone, who were big parts of the passing game (well, not so much Randy last season, but in previous seasons yes). We've got a few promising people on D but the guys that have been the studs and the glue to the unit (Taylor and Thomas) are getting old and could retire anytime now, putting us back to square one there. We got a promising young RB but the offensive line is in shambles. It just seems like every position we look good in there is another directly related to it that we look bad in, so they cancel it out.

I would love nothing more to vote 10, but this is supposed to be a serious poll and unbiased, so 5 it is.

I voted 6. No matter how good I always think they look, they always
manage to let me down. Whether it's not making the playoffs or
losing 62-7 and never making it past the second round. I've
always remained optimistic so this year I ain't gonna get my
hopes up too high.

5, It maybe a few years until then, there are still some question marks surrounding this team.

As of right now, about a 6.

The defense is there. Offense needs a line, some speed, a QB and depth. Special teams has a few holes too. We have the ability to upgrade several positions though so there's still hope.

as an nfl team every hold can't be fixed, we just have too many. cornerback, old D tackles, offensive line, especially quarterback

I went with 6 because no matter how bad an offense is, when you have our defense, you're always going to be in games.

I chose 1.

Just off the top of my head:
Mike Mularkey, Donte Culpepper, traded away the only bright spot on the Offense last year (Welker), no OL, no secondary, Porter's dirty play and big mouth being penalyzed throughout the season, no Fullback, aging Defense.

I said seven because once we draft Laron Landry we will have the best defense in the league.

Cameron is an offensive guy. That right there puts us closer to getting 20+ points a game which spells 10 wins at least. The real problem however is at QB. We need to solve the QB spot. If we can do that and get a guy who doesnt make mistakes and understands how Cam wants his offense, we are real close. Think Tom Brady. That guy, as much as i hate his ***, is the guy that makes that team what it is. YOu can get Skippy Longfellow for a WR and they still win.

I voted 6, I think we need to be solid at QB, and right now I have some doubts about that!

Tha's what people said when we drafted Jason Allen :rolleyes2

I definately agree our biggest problem is QB, and Culpepper was the biggest mistake EVER IMO (besides starting Reggie Howard).

I would say 6, the main reason being a very good defense and solid running game. But even the craziest Fin fan can go no higher than that until the QB position is solidified. We can talk about other problem areas like o-line, wr speed, and secondary, but until they get consistent play from the QB, the Fins will only be a team with a good enough defense to keep them in most games.
Having said all that, a great draft, RW and CPEP playing like they have in the past can put them right up there. That's too many ifs, though, so 6 is the score.

This is an odd way of determining how close we are, but I voted 6.....

We still have a lot of work to do, but thankfully it appears we inally fhave the right guys in place who can bring it together....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

With our defense and Ricky and Ronnie carrying the ball, why can't we be contenders next season? The more I think about it, the better things look.

We lost McMichael but we replaced him with a guy who has a lot of talent (Martin), Welker is gone but Hagan should hopefully emerge as a 3rd receiver. Getting Ricky back will be a huge boost to the offense as will a healthy Culpepper. If Culpepper goes then it will be Lemon or perhaps Trent Green under center, but all they will have to do is protect the ball because we certainly wont get caught in any shootouts.

Our secondary has holes but it shouldn't matter with the pressure our front 7 will provide. If we can add a couple of guys who can contribute through the draft on either side of the ball we can challenge for the superbowl, it's that simple. That's why I hit 7. :D
