All offseason the front office has talked about building the trenches and that seems like the most logical path for the #1 pick. But, anything is possible. Miami has a lot of holes and could go in a lot of different directions, especially if they trade up or down.

So, who is your surprise pick? Mine is with a trade-down option, maybe around the LA Chargers pick at #28. The Chargers could be in play for a quarterback if Lock or Jones is there. Both might be. I also think the corners start going toward the middle of round one. Maybe Pittsburgh could trade up for Murphy, who seems like a perfect fit for them.

My surprise: A.J. Brown

Honestly, I haven't thought much about wide receivers as I feel that is down on the pecking order. Miami is also "relatively" strong there with Wilson and Grant coming back and the surprise re-signing of Parker.

Then I started thinking about New England's success on offense which is build around dominating in the slot. The Patriots have accomplished that with a pin-point, accurate quarterback and small, quick receivers that are match-up nightmares. The Dolphins kind of did the same thing with Wilson and Grant, who both were playing well until they got injured. That's part of the problem with these smaller receivers as they get punished in the slot.

Brown is built like a linebacker at close to 230 pounds. He is Jarvis Landry with speed and someone who could absolutely be a beast in the slot and perhaps more durable than some of these smaller receivers. Plus, with 4.42 speed Brown gives a team more versatility. He isn't limited to the slot.

I don't think it will happen, but with a trade down Miami could cast a bigger net. Plus, with a new qb coming likely in 2020 building an offensive line and having a safety net receiver like Brown could add up to instant success.

They trade down and take Jeffery Simmons. They aren't playing for this year anyway so they can take their time with him coming off the injury. I hope they can trade down and load up on picks for next season and then draft offensive lineman in this year's draft.

Simmons would be interesting. To me if Haskins isn't there at #13, trade down and get more picks

IF they pick at 13 a surprise would be a non lineman so i'll say T.J. Hockenson

In a trade down it would still be a surprise to take a non lineman so I'll say Byron Murphy

Both players I like btw....but the Fins need to beef up the trenches to begin a true rebuild.

They will NOT draft a WR. Surprise pick- Andre Dillard. Some scouts like him better than Taylor and Ford.

Dexter Lawrence or Jeffrey Simmons, especially if they traded down with Houston who would probably want Andre Dillard. Also Dillard, especially if the coaches wouldn't want to move Jesse Davis to RT.

Simmons is a top 10 talent and can play anywhere on the D line
Perfect player for Flores’ defense

If they don’t trade back then Brian Burns, DE at 13. He’s disruptive and quick. He reminds me of Danielle Hunter. A player like him would be worth it at 13 and fill a major hole.

Cody Ford, after trade down.
I could see that. Looking over mocks, both the top offensive tackles have been consistently gone before Miami picks. If that holds true, it's either a pass rusher or a trade down IMO. Ford could be a trade down option for sure.

I really like Burns as well, but not sure about fit. Would Flores use him as a 3-4 linebacker? At the very least, I think he's a situational pass rusher.

Murphy is interesting. Lots of people talk about him as the top corner. I think it's Greedy Williams when the ball is in the air, but factoring in run support Murphy is much better than Williams. Hockenson could be there. I think top 10 is a little rich for him. That would be a pretty big surprise.
