Your thoughts when Gus was limping?

He ended up not missing any plays, of course, but when I saw Gus limping in the fourth quarter, a thought went through my head - "What do we do now?" It was just instictive, as if Gus was Dan Marino or something.

Now, Marino he isn't, but I had become comfortable with the idea that Gus - with all his ups and downs - could lead us to 10 wins if all the other parts of the team hold up. But I never even thought about what would happen should he go down with a serious injury! Would Sage be up to the task? Would A.J. resurface? I got to thinking, it's not that Gus is that great, but he's the best option this season!

All else being normal, what ramifications would Gus going down for say - eight games - have on our season? I think it would really hurt us and make us a six-win team at best.

Weird thoughts. First it was "Oh God, there goes our steady hand at QB", but then after a couple of seconds I thought "Maybe this is the football gods finally giving Sage his chance to show the world what he can do."

I not so sure there would be a huge drop off in the QB play if we had to go to Sage. I think it might cause us to drop a n extra game or two is all. None of the QB's on our roster bring any real excellence to the team.

I thought that for a second too (that was the optimist in me), but I really think Sage is just meant to be a backup for a reason? Maybe we'll find out someday, maybe we won't.

I thought Sage would come in. I wanted us to run the ball on the next play and we did. Then we threw on the play after and he looked fine.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sage get a shot and with Ricky back the running game and short passing game would be alot of help easing him into the starter role.

Its always amazing to see how loved the back-up QB's are in every NFL city...it really is true that they are the most popular guys in town!
