your top 3 reasons why ronnie ...

Top 3 reasons he WON'T be:

1. Poor QB's
2. Poor O-line
3. RICKY WILLIAMS!!!

He may end up being a great RB in this league for years to come, but I doubt he becomes the NEXT top guy to emerge. That will likely be some other rookie or newly promoted starter. Ricky has been looking closer and closer to his 2001 form every game, and if he keeps playing like that, there is no way he gets taken out of the game except for breaks and maybe a series or so.

The only way for Ronnie to be able to truly emerge is if he were the lone back and carrying 20-25 times per game. I think he will be lucky to get about 10-15 carries once Ricky is back in the fold. He may end up being a bigger threat in the passing game, but that is not the yardstick by which RB's are measured.

He wont be the NEXT big R.B. in the NFL but he will be one of the best in the years to come... or when our offensive line doesnt look like swiss cheese! :D

Actually when were running I would WANT our OL to look like swiss cheese and open up holes for Brown to run through. Passing game (pass protection) is a different story! :D

They haven't looked that bad this preseason. RW and RB have averaged better than 4 ypc, I think.

Well, given his size...he is not in the same mold as LT or SA..but he is a lot like Dickerson was, like the kid from the Rams (Jackson) is...it'll take a year or two for him to really become the more complete back that others are right now. He has a decided disadvantage with our weak OL...say what you want about HH, but the OL has shown only marginally better than last year. They have had flashes, but not consistency yet...so...when the OL becomes better, only then will RB be able to showcase his talents...

On another note, notice how every other elite back has a decent OL and decent QB to go with them....

1 Attitude-He's the consummate team player

2. Intelligence-Studies hard and pays attention to details according to coaching staff

3. Versatility-can do too many things for a defense to completely shut him down.

Yeaaahhhhhhh, Ricky is one to count and depend on. Ricky will be the Lamont Jordan to Ronnie's Curtis Martin.

Ronnie Brown is nothing like Dickerson or Jackson. Dickerson was the model for an upright runner. He was a taller, more angular running back. It's the same thing with Jackson, except that Jackson doesn't have Dickerson's lateral agility or overall speed.

Ronnie Brown is not an up right runner, and no one is going to confuse him with a taller, more angular built running back.

If anything, Ronnie Brown is a lot closer to the style of LaDainian Tomlinson, except that Ronnie is built more like Ahman Green.

Right now, ricky is still the king of RBs, period. Ronnie will be good, sooner or later, but this year he needs to just sit back and learn from a former rushing champion. Even all the ricky haters had no idea williams would come out of retirement and be the beast he has been.

:shakeno:dude get a grip, ronnies not gunna suck, our-oline has improved, our qbs are not horrible and rickys sitting out the first four games which gives ronnie time to prove himself, he looked good in both pre-season games so i dont think theres much to worry about

I certainly like what I`ve seen from Brown so far in the preseason, I`m just not sure what to expect out of him in the regular season. The four games that Ricky has to sit are huge for this team, Brown is going to have to carry the load in the backfield, and if he can get 4 yards per carry, and somewhere around 80 to 90 yards a game, then we`ll be alright. Should he struggle those first four games, I could see Ricky getting the bulk of the carries. Houck has his work cut out getting this Oline to open holes, and if they can`t, then RB and Ricky are in for a long and painful season, and so are we.
