Anyone notice this guy had 16 total tackles yesterday. He to me was the defensive MVP. JT made big plays in the fourth when it counted more but Thomas kept the vikes out of the endzone. This is anothber player from Miami that gets no credit nationally. Big Bad brian urlacher and ray lewis get so much credit while Zach gets crap.

Zach had a monster game.

JT had an historic game.

I'm not sure why I'm even getting into this argument, but, come on, five tackles, a sack, two forced fumbles, two passes defensed, and an interception returned for a TD trumps 17 tackles every day.

Zach has been a great Dolphin but I'll take on the bashing here when I say he is not the answer if we are going to kick the D up to a dominant level. Hear me out. He is still a good LB and makes plays BUT he is too small to play MLB nowadays. He has been great as an undersized MLB for alot of years BUT he is 15+ lbs lighter now and guys are getting MUCH bigger! He cannot take on blockers like he used to and even then he had a hard time. A big MLB can stand up a lead block and make the play. ZT still has to avoid the block to make the play. It's tough to turn the page on a guy as great as ZT has been but it's hard to imagine going into next year with a 210-215 lb MLB that earns almost 6 mil. Can he play OLB at 2-3 mil who knows but I really think we need to get bigger at LB.

:shakeno:  i responded to you in your thread where you said he disappeared, and then you disappeared. ZT LEADS THE NFL IN TACKLES, #1 IN THE NFL, NO ONE WITH MORE TACKLES. if the nfl leader in tackles is not the answer then WTH is the question:confused:

He is still a good LB and makes plays BUT he is too small to play MLB nowadays.

 :fire: they said the same thing when he came out of college, and look how that turned out. is wes welker to small to contribute at reciever? AGAIN I ASK, IF HE IS TOO SMALL TO PLAY MLB, THEN HOW DOES HE LEAD THE NFL IN TACKLES, AGAIN? please answer that question.

Zach Thomas is better than 95% of the linebackers out there. He might not be the biggest but he has a motor that never shuts off. He is always by the ball and making plays for the team. I wouldn't want any other middle lb on the field!:dolphins:

I hear what you are saying but since Zach is a leader of the team, leader
in tackles and still very much a playmaker then why focus on a strength
of the defense. If money is what concerns you I'm sure Zach will take
a pay cut. He has proven to be a true team player.

My point is that if the focus is on taking the defense to the next level then there is plenty of work to be done prior to worrying about any weakness that ZT may have.

I have heard many people say we should trade ZT & JT and use their draft
picks to rebuild. I guess that is a possibility but then again I wonder if we would get anything for Zach if everyone is so concerned about his size.

So I get that you know how to use smilies - did you just learn or do you always have to use 10 in a message?
Have you watched the games this year? I said Zach has been good - even great at times. He has made alot of tackles - I don't get wrapped up in #'s. They can be very misleading. I look for impact plays and he has made some but how many big plays has he made? How many game changing plays has he made? If he makes a tackle 10 yards downfield or the RB runs 7 yards up the middle and then Zach makes the tackle is that great? How many tackles does he have AFTER the TE has caught the ball? How many break ups does he have or INT's? How many 3rd down tackles behind the line?

Don't give me the out of college stuff - Zach is Dolphin legend for what he has done - no doubt about it. I love his style of play - not many people work harder or are as dedicated to the game as he is - he is a role model and would probably make a great coach if he ever wanted to. He should go into a Dolphin Hall of Fame - that is how much I think of him.

My point is if we want to be dominant in today's game where guys are much bigger and faster than 10 years ago then you need a MLB that is 250 to 260 - strong as a house and can run as fast as a RB. Easy to find - NO - but the MLB needs to be able to stand people up in the middle. Saban is in a tough spot because how do you get rid of a guy that works so hard - is so dedicated to the game and is still very good. There is no doubt Saban's ideal MLB is the size I mentioned above. Zach gets 6 mil next year and IMO we need to move on. Is that a popular call - NO - but if you could move Crowder to MLB and use that 6 mil for a dominant OLB or #1 DB our D just got better IMO. It's because we have a big MLB already on the roster that I say that as well.

Just to push buttons
Of Zach's 17 tackles yesterday more than 75% of them were for five yards or less
and Zach is amongst the leaders in passes deflected this season with seven.

To this I just have to ask, what does a LBer that is 15 pounds heavier do that Zach does not do BETTER?

Zach just regular does his job without a lot of fanfare or jumping and screaming, like Ray Lewis and Junior Seau always have to do.....the "it's-all- about-ME guys."

I'll take Zach over any other linebacker...yeah he is getting a little older, but he is still the leader and heart of the team.

nope did not notice at all, apparently its easier to notice if someone played well or not by reading the box score instead of watching the game, because I watched the game and did not see a 16 tackle performance in any way shape or form.

Leader with 7 deflections where? On the team? We are 4-6 - that's 10 games last I checked. 7 deflections? Are you saying he is one of the top coverage guys in the league? Seriously?
