Zach Cunningham was a frequent topic of discussion for the Dolphins pick a few months ago, but he hasn't been mentioned much lately. Is he not a good fit or is this a "hush" period and he might be a good target? I feel the Dolphins are in line to draft him even if we are able to trade down. He has been on my radar since early post-season and I still feel he could come in give us immediate help with the LB group.

I would still love to take him. Even with signing Timmons(stop gap) and keeping Misi.

Really think he could be a very good 3 down LB. That said, we do have other weaknesses that could be addressed at #22

I call him the Human Arm Tackle...He was on my radar until I watched a lot of his tape and didn't see as much stopping power as I would like. Can he tackle...yes, he does get the ball carrier to the ground, but it is a chase down, drag down affair usually.

Spot on, I'd much rather draft Jarrad Davis.

If you want a run-stopping LB, Cunningham is the best by a wide margin. He's not as fast and doesn't hit as hard as Davis. I prefer Cunningham for his instincts and ability to shed blocks, but they're both good players.

Could he be there at 54? DE in the first, Cunningham in 2? That would be a sweet haul.

So much talent in this draft that usually you see the guys you want getting snagged up at the top of round 2. This year, there are so many that we are guaranteed to see several fall to 54. I doubt Cunningham is one of them.

I'm still a big fan despite the weak tackling... can be cleaned up easier than instincts can be taught. I'd be happy with any of the 3 of ZC, JD,'or Raekwon mcmillion

I get the feeling, based on the visits, that they dont think they will have a shot at the top LB they have on their board and will draft one day 3...

Well we have met with Davis and McMillian I know at least, but yeah I have gotten that vibe as well

He's not a first round pick in this draft. I would take him at 54, though. You draft him based on the good read and diagnose ability, and hope you can coach him up better as far as tackling is concerned.

Here is Brent Kollman's scouting report on Zach Cunningham. Kollman calls Cunningham the best inside linebacker prospect in the draft. Kollman focuses on Cunningham's long (34.5") arms and reviews his tackling techniques. Where Cunningham has gotten a reputation as an arm tackler, Kollman notes that the missed tackles are coming on the outside when he has to pursue the ball carrier from behind where his lack of top speed and upper body strength hurts him. Kollman believes Cunningham is a very good tackler inside.

Love him, but yes, arm tackler. That being said, it may well be something that can be remedied to an extent. Love his instincts.

Side note: What the heck happened to Anthony Walker our of Northwestern? I know he got heavier, but is he worth a later round flier?
