I have to admit that I was starting to wonder if Zach could play in Saban's system, as were many people prior to the season. But as of right now, Zach is #3 in tackles. That's after missing 1 1/2 games due to a torn Labrim and a jacked up ankle. Then he comes back after missing time and ends up being Defensive Player of the Week! If he had not missed time due to injury, he'd be the leading tackler in the league. Big props to Zach! The guy's a flat out stud and I'm glad to have him on our team!

Several of the existing Dolphin's defenders seemed to struggle with the new defense at the start of the year. But over the last few weeks they seem to really be getting comfortable with it playing like we're used to seeing them play. Guys like Sam Madison and Jason Taylor have really stepped it up along with Zach Thomas. I expect them to get better each week. It really gives us something to build on for next year.

The people that were thinking that Zack couldn't play Nick's defence were basing that on us going to a 3-4 full time which it hasn't been the case...on a 3-4 Zack would really be exposed without having 2 DT's in front of him and he'd have to take on guards all the time that are 100lbs heavier than him.As long as they're on a 4-3 then Zack's fine....is perfect for him.

i still cringed when i saw zach covering LT in the endzone...in fact i think LT dropped that TD pass, although it somewhat looked like zach got a hand in there

Zach will play great no matter what "system" he is in. He's a flat out warrior. His heart could never be measured.

so that means LT didnt drop it, Zach broke it up. :dolphins: ;)

Crowder plays much better when Zach is there to anchor the line...

It's all about containment along the perimeter. Zach is a master of it.

Not to nitpick but,he actually missed 2 1/2 games. He went out about halftime of the Browns game and proceeded to miss both the Raiders and the Bills games. If anything, that makes it more impressive. He was actually leading the league in tackles I believe when he was injured. In fact, since 2001, I think he had been top five in tackles every year. It makes it even more impressive where he isconsidering the missed time and new system. I can't wait for the day when his number is retired in Miami. Actually, I can wait, because I want him playing for years to come.

Where in Sacramento do you live? I live about an hour southwest of there. I live in Discovery Bay which is about 20 miles west of Stockton. There are a few Dolphins fans in my neck of the woods.

The majority of the time, Zach Thomas is playing either 3-4 ILB, or a position almost completely identical to it. We do play a straight, regular 4-3, but much less then a 4-3 over/under or a 3-4.

When we are playing a 4-3 Over/Under, we are basically playing a 3-4 defense. Crowder and Thomas still play over Guard most of the time, like a 3-4. We've still got a Nose Tackle, like a 3-4. We've still got two big DE/DTs like Carter/Holiday/Wright lining up over the Tackles.

The big difference is Jason Taylor. In the 4-3 over/under, Jason Taylor will switch sides and line up against the weak side of the offense with his hand on the ground, while in the 3-4 he will be standing up.

Zach Thomas, for all intents and purposes, deals with the same trials and tribulations as a 3-4 Interior linebacker most of the time.

Not after sunday:rofl3:

1 Jonathan Vilma NYJ 139
2 London Fletcher BUF 133
3 Zach Thomas MIA 126

Not sure Zack is going to get 13 MORE tackles than Vilma on Sunday.
