Zach Orr

Not sure how that works. Can you retire and then a few months later un-retire and sign with any team you want. Seems like that would be an easy way for a player to leave a team he's under contract with. Could Jarvis Landry have retired in February and then un-retire in July and sign a max deal with any team of his choosing?

It explains that in the article. He would have been a restricted FA, but they didn't tender him, as they didn't expect him back.
 
How is he in pass coverage?

If he fits, of course, but sounds like it will take a big commitment to land him.
 
With Kiko, Timmons, Misi, McMillan, Hull, and Hewitt, our LB corp is crowded enough. Not saying Orr isn't as good, but spending the money that would be needed would be better used at other positions

It might be crowded, but not with quality. Among our projected starters, one is a rookie, another is on the downside of his career, and a lot of things can be said about the third, but a star he ain't. If Orr is healthy, it would be terrific to have him.

Also, what other position are you going to spend money on at this point in the season?
 
Zach Orr is a baller. Was outstanding in Baltimore's 3-4 defense, excellent against the pass. But spinal injury...I don't think I'd take that chance. I certainly wouldn't want the guy to end up paralyzed on the field.

Orr is not a strong side linebacker. He's 6' 225 lbs...he's a weak side backer where we already paid Kiko Alonso a lot of money and we have Neville Hewitt behind him.
 
15 teams have allegedly inquired about Orr. I had no idea that he was that good to attract such a high level of interest.
 
I realize that he's been playing a number of years (college, pro and probably high school), and that a player can be seriously hurt or paralyzed on any given play (Darryl Stingily and Dennis Byrd), but I would have serious reservations about signing him were I in the front office.
