Zach Still Learning New Defense

That must be hard. Especially for a vet who's only really known 2 variations of 1 system. Now he's gotta change calls every week for plays and relay them.

I think he's doing an awesome job though:)

What a player.

This Thomas kid might have some potential. Geez, only 17 tackles last week without being up on the new system. When he gets it down, he might actually become a player in this league.

WHEN WILL HE GET THE RESPECT HE DESERVES !

Good news, it means there should be more to come

I was watching playbook last night when they showed some highlights from the Panthers game where Zach was making plays and the dude goes "Zach Thomas is having quite a season so far" (sounding surprised) I was thinking... DUH!

But as we all know, Zach isn't a top 5 LB no... he isn't even a top 5 MLB in most people's book. So maybe after he lights it up this season with 200+ tackles and 20+ Stops for losses 5 Sacks and whatever amount of picks.... Just maybe someone will say maybe they were wrong. Not if you're a certain Jets fan tho *coughnyjunccough*.

I've wondered why they don't allow one player on defense to have a comm. device like QBs use to cut that part out....I guess they feel that it may provide an edge to defenses and the league wants as much offense as possible....

..;)

It's stunning to think Zach could get better in this defense. He's already getting more props around the league than he has in five years.

Well, you have to think when JJ and Bates pretty much ran our Defense WE WERE VANILLA LIKE WHOA. But, now, Saban is utilizing Zach to his strenghs. I like when people say Zach isn't an effective blitzer when last Sunday he showed he has speed around the edge to get to the QB and in preseason he just BOWLED over pro-bowl center Olin Kruetz. I can't fathom why people say Zach isn't a top 5 LB. Size is overrated, heart is vastly underrated.

I just hope Zach can keep up this pace for another 2 to 4 years. I think he would be HOF material if he did, then he would get the recognition he has deserved all along.

zach needed this head coach. saban gives him a tutor in Muschamp, making football fun again for ZT by establishing something for zach to learn. a new challenge. he doesnt want to win just to avoid losing. he expects this to work towards the next level, a place he's never been. he believes in it. it's rubbed off on most, not all players on the defense at least. the hang time on sam madison's smile after making a mistake has dropped well below his career average. he is taking his game a bit more serious than in the past, Madison.

If Zach is still learning this D I think it says a TON about how complicated this scheme is for the Lb. Every time you hear announcers (or anyone else) talk about him they remark on how smart he is and how much film he watches. I love it that we can actually confuse offences now!
