Zach Thomas left off TSN's top 100 NFL players list

The Sporting News just released their top 100 NFL players of 2005 and only one Dolphin made it - Jason Taylor #17 - meaning Zach Thomas in the eyes of this magazine is not worthy of being in the top 100 of today's players.

Here are some notables who were put ahead of him:

100 - Dre' Bly, CB, Lions
96 - Mark Bulger, QB, Rams
95 - Ty Law, CB, Jets (one of five Jets on the list)
94 - Donovin Darius, S, Jaguars
90 - Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, DE, Packers
89 - Shawn Springs, S, Redskins
86 - Brian Westbrook, RB, Eagles
84 - Al Wilson, LB, Broncos (where in the hell was he this past Sunday? :shakeno: )
83 - Rudi Johnson, RB, Bengals
81 - Charles Grant, LB, Saints
80 - Leonard Little, LB, Rams
73 - Charles Tillman, CB, Bears
66 - Michael Lewis, S, Eagles
64 - Cornelius Griffin, DT, Redskins
63 - Jonathan Vilma, LB, Jets
62 - Shaun Ellis, DE, Jets
50 - Patrick Surtain, CB, Chiefs

And I'm not trying to suggest that Thomas is better than all these players, but it's hard to believe that he doesn't deserved to be at least ranked with them.

I guess heart, leadership and hard work doesn't count for nothing with it comes to the Sporting News.

How many sucessful years did Rudi Johnson Have?

He hasn't been getting respect lately, I guess leading the team in tackles every season isn't enough.

IDK, Vilma is very very good. I'd prefer him over Zach.
vilma has been in the league one year, zach has been there almost a decade and put up huge numbers in just 13 games last year, shattering all of vilmas stats except interceptions. If I had to pick a linebacker for the future, sure vilma would be a top target, but If I had to pick one now (and ray lewis is taken) I pick zach.

Why is everyone dissing Rudi ?

I'll admit. I'm biased because he went to my high school, but he IS a good RB.

That is a bunch of BS. ZT cleary doesn't get the respect that he deserves.

could be OR it could be he is overrated by Dolphin fans. Zach has been a good player but he is clearly on the decline of his career.

Vilma was much better than Zach last year. Once again you guys use meaningless tackle #s, Miami opponents had nearly 100 mroe rushing attempts than Jets opponents so Zach had many more opportunites to get tackles AND it's nto tackles that are important it is where they are. Who cares if a tackle is 6-7 yards down the field.

Something you expect from a Jets' fan. Think about it for a moment... right now Zach is second to only Ray Lewis. Zach reads plays like no one I have ever seen, he knows where the play is before the ball is off. Actually take some time and watch him in slo-mo, I was amazed how quick he reads. He also moves quite quickly around the field for a guy who is so slow. Not to mention his technique is the best I have seen in the NFL. His tackles are always perfect, how often does someone break off of Zach?

I am not taking anything away from Vilma, he will be a top 3 LB in the near future, and has huge potential (enough to be top 3 all-time really). But right now Vilma is NOT a top 3 LB, and Zach Thomas IS!

 Give me a break, he is not now and has never been close to ray lewis and he is nowhere near ray at this moment although ray himself has slipped a bit.

But right now Vilma is NOT a top 3 LB, and Zach Thomas IS!

Vilma was better than zach in his onyl season, Zach is getting old. How is Zach now all of a sudden better? B/c Miami won and the Jets lost this week? Zach is nowhere near a top 3 LB.

Dude, I know you're a Jets fan so you automatically start off in the hole. However, I don't see how you ar anyone can qualify tackles. There is no stat that seperates tackles for a loss and tackles for a gain. Tackles are tackles. Your team has less tackles because they are lesser tacklers. It's very simple.

And don't jump up on your bandwagon because you happened to have a good year compared to us for once last year. Zach has led the league many times in Tackles over your players when both our teams had opposite results of last year.

If I were you, I'd concern myself with the Jets and why they are all acting like Carnies lately. You can't throw, run, catch or defend. Your coach is helpless and has no control over the mayhem. Your players are punching each other in the face on your own sideline. I think I remember in Ghostbusters, them quoting that all these things are the sign of the apocalypse!

The tackels stat is a very overrated stat, tackles 5 yards down the field don't mean much. The jets had a MLB in Kyle Clifton whp used to average around 200 tackles a year but he was not great he just had alot of opprtunities to make tackles since we were mostly bad. Zach is a good player but ahs never been a great player.

For once? We have been as good or better for 8 years and we have dominated you guys since '98. Opposite results of last year/ We haven't been as bad as 4-12 since 1996 and you guys haven't made the playoffs since 2001.

if I were you I'd be worried about this jets team that is better than yuo and has dominated you winning 11 of 14 instead of worrying where Zach Thomas is rated. Good player, always has been but never great and it's an insult to ray lewis to mention them in the same sentence. Go check ray Lewis' D's in the playoffs and see if they have been thrashed the way the D's Zach has led have.

Before you go around tossing zingers maybe you should do a little research first. It would definitely assist in your credibility ..........instead of posting inaccurate information.
