Zach Thomas Reflects On His Miami Dolphins Career

You can tell how much he misses it. You'd think he would want to get into coaching if only to hang out on the periphery of the locker room.

I miss those defenses. Dunno how they'd handle the Gronks of the world but in most every other way I think they would have held up in today's game, even moreso than the Tampa Bay and Baltimore units.

I feel badly for those on this board that never got a chance to see Zach Thomas play. What an absolute joy to watch, always represented the dolphins well. He beat Jack Del Rio that year as a rookie- that says a lot. An all timer in my book.

Zach was/is a mans man. If the current players had half the heart of ZT, we would have perrineal play off appearances.

He needs to reflect on joining the coaching staff. I can't think of a smarter defensive player off the top of my head. You can tell he misses it so it's not a stretch.

I remember before he said he wanted to spend time with his wife and young kids before he got back into anything. How old are the kids now? I couldn't find anything.

The part where he got choked up about earning respect. That's 100% what I would expect to see from Zach Thomas. I'm grateful I was old enough to understand how special he really was when he was in Miami.

Found Zach holding his son in 2010 when he retired from the NFL. His son was an infant. He should be about 8-9 years old now. I guess were gonna have to wait another 5-10 years if we wanna see Zach coaching.

I'd give anything ... ANYTHING ... to see Zach Thomas play one more time. As a defensive guy who played defensive football (in HS and College), I honestly would prefer to see him play again more than Marino.

Zach was all brains, all guts, all determination ... and most importantly of all, ALL HEART. When you watched Zach play, you know he gave you everything he had, and left it all out on the field. I'm so glad I got to watch him play ... maybe my ALL-TIME favorite Phin, even more than Marino. Maybe if half our current roster had the same kind of passion, determination, and heart that the "Zach Attack" had, maybe we wouldn't be stuck in mediocrity so much.

Its a disgrace that he hasn't been seriously considered for the HOF yet. I think he will get in sooner than later though (since Lewis and Urlacher are now in), but damn it ... he better start getting some consideration soon. Kyle Brandt on "Good Morning Football" already started giving him just much needed attention for the HOF.

I would have loved to see that man win a SB with the Miami Dolphins....what a shame. If you are prepared you can overcome anything.....reminds me of Peyton Manning in that respect.

Those defenses were killed by the slot receivers
