Hierarchy of Needs?

I think it's time for Tannenbaum and Grier to go. Most people want a roster overhaul and feel the roster is holding us back. If Gase can't coach up the guys we have, how can rely on him to coach up the next round of same duds the front office brings in?

Do you really think that our front office is telling Gase that these are the guys you are getting, take it or leave it?

Other than the top 5 in the draft (and even then), it sure looks like there is a metric ton of just dumb luck on if a player plays up to expectation: the speed and bulking up transition from college to the pros, injuries, the football smarts needed for learning the system and keeping up with the tweaks, jelling with the other players around you who all have to move in an unbelievably choreographed dance that is constantly adjusting in real-time. It takes time to get a core of players that fit a system, with depth to handle the inevitable injuries, and the 50%+ of the drafts that for one reason or another just don't work out.

For the teams that are good to great year in and year out, what you seem to have is stability in the coaching and FO, a better than average QB at minimum to near elite QB, and where the team has holes the other units are good enough to pick up some/most of the load so the coaches can game plan around it.

If you hit on the QB he'll have a far bigger impact on the field then any other position you draft. And the second we draft the guy we can trade Tannehill for a high pick and use it to address all these others needs you mentioned.

That sure feels like a 2 to 3 year plan. Of course, the key here is 'hit on the QB'. Unless we're drafting in the top 5, the odds get longer and longer.

Where in the draft do the odds start to get so long that we're better off investing in other positions? We all know the oddball late(ish)QB drafts that worked out -- because there have been so few of them.

In round one you draft the most exciting talent. If it is a QB and the Dolphins have a conviction on the guy you pick him and be happy. Tannehill's health is now a question mark so you have to have your future QB on the roster pretty soon. It's actually become a huge need, not because I don't like RT, I like him a lot, but because of exactly what happened this season. This Coach isn't turning things over to Matt Moore ever, for any length of time, so he has to get to pick a stud to groom behind RT. Some of these early round QBs start and excel in year one!We need to find our Carson Wentz imo. It's time for the Dolphins to have a star QB again.

I think we need to get stronger down the middle on offense. Better OG's, a RB, a TE, and the return of Tannehill. If we can do that, we will be competitive (8+ wins at least). We can even have a winning season in spite of Tannenbaum's incompetence. But I wish we could get rid of Tannenbaum some how...

1. Sack tannebaum.

When he came here I gave him the BOD. His first draft and off season was a 7/10. Since then he has imploded.

After he goes, and it should be now, notbat the end of the season, we look too hire a draft expert that knows our weaknesses....and works on fixing them.

I'd go LB, TE then QB. A QB in the 3rd round is fine, just look at Watson this year. After that LB again, OLine, than RB who are a dime a dozen

You dont get Deshaun Watson in the third round. If you want a QB that will actually see the field you have to get one before the third round.

Particularly this year. There will be alot of teams taking QBs early, anything after round 2 will be Doughty/Fales quality guys that MIGHT be practice squad worthy.
