Aqua's 1st Round/Dolphins Mock 1/22/08

The only think id argue would be the number 32 pick. Id grab Chris Williams or Carl Nicks.

Then in the 3rd id draft the TE from A&M

I'm a big Fred Davis advocate so if he's there, I want him.

But I do like Martellus Bennett a lot, too.

The one constant line I hear when reading reports on Crable is, "He has a tendency for disrupting the opposing signal caller." Imagine him, Long and Porter rushing together. :D
I forget where I read it, but he had 20+ stops in the backfield.

I hope your scenerio means that JT is traded for a pick? I would hope that Miami understands his value and can take advantage of that in the form of a draft pick. Add a Goff or Bell (I want both) to the middle and the LB spot looks alot better than it did last year.

I suppose. And this leads me back to a point made quite a while ago that there are several folk here that know more then some coaches/scouts.

His size is what kills it for me. I want a big TE for a red zone threat. Now I'm not knocking on him but thats just my view. I see him getting snagged by either the Vikings, Titans, or Seahawks in round 1.

What about Rucker? Boomer said he plays more of a slot TE and might not fit what Parcells and Co. are looking for, what are your thoughts?

Yeah, man, that's very good especially considering he's going up against Big-10 linemen (traditionall good and big.)

Yes, I want JT gone and long gone. I believe we could get a 2nd round pick for him and maybe that means I can slot Collins and Lowery a little higher because I feel that may be a bit of wishful thinking having them fall to us in those spots.

Damn, the more I think about it, we could absolutely kill this draft.

Which is why I'd like to target a tall receiver somewhere. But then again, Ronnie Brown is an awesome red-zone target himself.

Davis is just 6'2'' but he's still a physical force to every DB he faces (and then a speedster against linebackers.)

Those are all teams that could use a TE but I think each of those teams have far bigger needs elsewhere.

Minnesota- QB and DE
Tennessee- WR
Seattle- RB

I didn't watch a lot of Missouri this year but from what I've seen, you're (or Boom I guess ;)) are/is right. There are so many different approaches on this draft, man, and as I said, we could kill it!

True but all need a WR threat. Davis will probably fall but I don't think we select him IMO.

Nice mock Aqua , I think I would prefer a CB at 32 though. either.....

Terrell Thomas, USC
Height: 6-1. Weight: 200.
40 Time: 4.40.
Projected Round: 1-2.

A jack of all trades, Terrell Thomas can play corner, safety and return specialist. He also returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown in 2006. The leader of USC's locker room

Or

Wisconsin_logo-1.gif
Jack Ikegwuonu, Wisconsin
Height: 6-1. Weight: 201.
40 Time: 4.38.
Projected Round: 1-2.

Jack Ikegwuonu has declared for the 2008 NFL Draft.

Ikegwuonu is definitely coming into his own - in back-to-back weeks, he shut down James Hardy and Mario Manningham.

Ikegwuonu seems to have slipped a little and I am really high on Terrell Thomas. I had us taking him with SD's pick in my last mock but I think he has since risen. There is a TON of teams needing cornerbacks in round 1 so the deep class will come in handy.

Is Silva really projected to go in the 7th??? I have heard he was all over the place in the bowl game and I did see him one game this year and he was great. That would be a big steal if we got him in the seventh.

Nice work. Love the Dolphins mock.

Here's a few differences of opinion...
- I think Cason is the best CB in this draft, but that's a much different opinion than the experts have. Wright, Kiper, Mayock and McShay all have Cason way down the list on their top CB boards. So seems like the experts are way off or Cason will be there for us in the 2nd round, possibly even with our 2nd pick in the 2nd round. Whoever lands him in the 2nd round will be very pleased IMO, just like we were with Madison and Surtain.
-I think Jake Long goes in the top 10, possibly top 5. KC will have to decide between Long and Clady, and knowing how they draft I bet they'd take Long.
-Bowman isn't a first round talent IMO. I wouldn't be crazy with using a 2nd rounder on him either.
-I don't see Okam going in the first round.
-Silva should be gone before the 7th round.

I would not argue against that. I know CK is high on him as am I, but that's about where it stops in terms of members here that are real big on him. (At least that I know of.) A lot of guys here think he's too small and not even a top 5 guy. I think he and Jenkins are VERY close.

He is rated as a 7th

Jamie Silva, SS, Boston College
Height: 5-11. Weight: 208.
40 Time: 4.56.
Projected Round: 7.

A hard-hitter who picked off four passes in 2006 despite missing some time with a knee injury.

I would still prefer

Caleb Campbell, SS, Army
Height: 6-2. Weight: 223.
40 Time: 4.47.
Projected Round: 4.

You have to love the 40 that comes with Caleb Campbell's size. Given his background, I think we can assume that he has a great work ethic.
