ESPN said that he looked really good. He had nice zip on his passes and was accurate. I believe that report alot more.

The first play for the starters on defense they got ripped for about 20 by Tony Hollings but seemed to play well after that although they did alow a couple of td passes.

um...i thought it was mentioned that the scrimmage went scoreless? whats the deal?

According to Joe Schad in the Palm Beach Post:
"Fiedler vs. Feeley

A.J. Feeley looked as sharp as he has in a Dolphins uniform in the morning practice, coming out firing and developing an apparent connection with receiver Kendall Newson, getting together for at least four catches. Jay Fiedler and Newson connected on two other passes, including a deep ball down the right sideline. Newson and J.R. Tolver worked as first-team receivers and the quarterbacks were hurt by the absences of four injured receivers. In the scrimmage, Fiedler was 5-of-6 for 18 yards and Feeley was 2-of-5 for 30 yards. Neither had a touchdown or interception. In a seven-on-seven drill, Fiedler was 7-of-9 for 46 yards and Feeley was 2-of-7 for 31 yards. Fiedler, who appeared comfortable in Reliant Stadium, had touchdown passes to Newson and Sammy Morris."

If AJ connected with Newson at least four tiems, how did he complete only 4 passes? Either their stats are off or they were being overly optimistic.

John Jones the TE was brought in cuz he is a special teams guy isnt he? Hes not here to be a TE is he?

Its not too difficult. There was a morning practice, and there was an afternoon scrimmage. AJ lit up the field in the morning practice. In the afternoon scrimmage, neither AJ nor Jay looked good, but Jay had the higher completion percentage and led his team into the endzone more.

If this was a boxing score card you would give AJ a 10 and Jay a 9 in round 1, and AJ a 9 and Jay a 10 in round 2 (tho those #'s might actually be more like a 7 and 8, or even 6 and 7...all things considered).

Overall, from the reports I'm hearing on all 4 practices against the Texans, AJ looked like the superior QB in 3 of the practices, while Jay performed better in the 4th practice...but Jay's performance is significant, since that was the actual scrimmage and "semi-realistic" game situation. Not too significant tho, because these scrimmages mean squat, way less even than preseason games. I remember the Titans scrimmage last season...we looked great against them. Then, season goes on, and the Titans were the better team.

So the whole thing gets an INC I would say...we still have to wait until Feeley outperforms Jay in the preseason before we can judge...and it WILL happen, its inevitable.

BTW, in no way, shape, or form did Sage have better "credentials" to run this team over Feeley when we traded for AJ.

Just to clear up a couple of questions...

Between poor pass blocking and dropped passes both QB's struggled, however I just think AJ looks like a better QB in both the short and long distance pass game. Gotta underscore that Sage looked good as well.

No one scored in the actual scrimmage, but both scored a couple of TD's in the 7 on 7's. The contact level during those drills was less that 50%.

thanx ck, you answered all my questions, greatly appreciated.

HOUSTON — For most of the Houston Texans' offensive line, Saturday's scrimmage against the Miami Dolphins simply provided a nice respite from lining up against the same ol' faces — the Texans' defensive line — during training camp. "But for me, it was a little bit different," said Seth Wand, Houston's starting left tackle, "because I'm the only guy on the line who hasn't really played. It's kind of like the spotlight is on me as far as what I'll be able to do this year."

For the most part, Wand, 25, held his own against Miami's defensive line and pass-rush specialist Jason Taylor. A glorified practice, however, is hardly the best way to tell whether a new left tackle is fit for duty.
