Overall I get a twitch when people start making their plans while taking it for granted that a young player will continue to improve. The same kind of thinking sunk us with Wade Smith.

No, you build by not taking things like improvement for granted. There's a difference. It's the difference between drafting a Wade Smith because he could develop into a quality LT, and tearing apart the OL and not grabbing anyone who could play LT because you figure your second-year LT will play better this year than he did last year.
