Could we be effective with a statue QB?

Could we be effective with a statue QB?

At this point I'm ready to roll out the statue of Marino that sits in front of JRS. He may be a bit immobile but it would still have better pocket presence than what I've witnessed these past 4 years.

No on Warner, I'd take Collins over Noodle boy. For the right price...........

What if the O-line did more pass protect than run protect. It could be easier to focus on pass-protection. Then we pick up a Warner or Collins and have them fire to all the targets at WR (theres a lot of them), tosses in the backfield to ricky, shotgun 4 wide w/ricky next to a gun-slinger(marino-type).....they have to do this!! get WARNER!

I was thinking about this, and you know to be completely honest, if we were to pick up a Collins or Warner, two guys who need to be protected...I know people say well we don't have the OL to protect him. Ok, thats true. But, we DO have the starting WRs to protect them.

What I mean is, with two starters of Chambers and Boston's quality, we could go max protect all day and not have a problem because usually no matter who the other team puts on Chambers or Boston, it should be a mismatch. Ricky is good at picking up blitzes and chipping on rushers, and Rob if I recall isn't that bad at it either. Donald Lee is a pretty good blocker and Randy can do that too...and in max protect you wouldn't necessarily ALWAYS need to have the TE stay in.

Its basically the Joe Gibbs type offense. He is really good at scheming to protect the QB and using max protections. I really don't understand, if we were to go after a Warner or Collins (and get rid of Fiedler), why we couldn't do the same.

Of course, this assumes our brand new OL doesn't surprise us and play really well. I think they could surprise us.

Don't mistake me on Feeley though. I'm not raising this issue because he had subpar performances at our recent mini-camps. Those performances mean about as much to me as an air conditioner in winter. We just don't know that Feeley will be ready in his first year in the offense to lead us to the promised land. Guys like Warner and Collins are a bit more experienced, could be ready to lead us quicker. We know they have the armstrength, accuracy, and ability to read defenses that we HOPE Feeley has...and we know that Fiedler doesn't. Thats what I'm sayin. As always, at the right price...

BTW don't count out Sage. He's been the most impressive of the three QBs so far...and thats the second offseason in a row he's done that yet been the 3rd stringer.

I'm afraid that putting two tight ends and having a halfback that can pick up blitzes isn't a tool that is god given. Teams do prepare for that you know. As for Chambers and Boston, they are stoppable like any other player. Example, a receiver who plays and runs his routes better than each of them, Marvin Harrison. He always finds ways to get open and thats what makes him such a great receiver. Teams can usually put a linebacker underneath on our receivers to make it tough for the Qb to make accurate reads. Nobody in this league is looking for MIchael Vicks, even qb's with no mobility need to know how to move in the Pocket in order to make Big Plays.

In Joe Gibbs offense he has his tight end or Fullback protect the qb and come out of the line of scrimmage or behind to the open field so the quarterback can make a big play by dumping the ball out. Also Joe Gibbs was one of the first coaches to use a single back on the backfield in order to take out the "Unknown blitzer" which at that time was Lawrence Taylor. This is coming from watching the days of Joe Gibbs coach. He could never stop Lawrence Taylor however.

Don't kid yourself because Feeley is not mobile QB.He is as mobile as Collins.Too bad Dolphins are not considering Collins.

Last Time I read the 40 times, Feeley was just as Fast as Jay Fiedler. Also, feeley coming from a west coast offense, had to have speed in Order to be successful on roll outs and throws which he completed so well when he had 5 starts in Philadelphia.

Feeley is much more mobile than Collins and especially Warner. If you don't think so, you probably haven't seen him play.

Warner didn't get it done with Bruce and Holt because Martz refused to protect. Constantly 3 WRs, with the RBs coming out on pass patterns. Lots of weapons to choose from, except for the fact that D-Coords could have the defense pin their ears back and put passrush specialists in all day long, blitz the heck out of the QB, and not ever have to worry about being picked up or beaten by run plays that Martz refused to call. With all that he still threw for a bunch of yards. Maybe if you protect him by keeping the backs and TEs in a bit more, you can protect the football. By the way people really shouldnt talk about 2003 with Warner. He started one game against the Giants and Michael Strahan, and not only did Martz refuse to protect him, but Warner took a concussion early in the first half...and Martz' answer was to throw 53 times and run Marshall all of 9 times. So yeah, Warner failed in that game. Later Martz called it one of the biggest mistakes he's ever made. Warner didn't really get another chance all season long though...so basically Warner had a bad 2002 season and not much of an opportunity in 2003. If we got Warner to replace Fiedler and compete with Feeley for the starting job, it would be a good thing IMO even though I think Fiedler is the perfect backup to a franchise QB. Getting rid of Fiedler at this point might just be a necessity though because it might be too easy to go with the safe option the guy we already know...instead of rolling the dice and taking the chance on someone that could be great for us...like Feeley, Sage, or Warner.

Roster from a recent post

Jay's time is 4.85
AJ's time is 5.11

You may want to read those 40 times again.
