Tua came into the league with the cloud of injury above his head, and needed to get fully fit before he could play. He also had absolutely no pre-season due to the ongoing pandemic. He was decent in his first year, but nothing special. The comparison to Herbert obviously hurts us at the moment.
Parker had an average season, with 691yds fewer than 2019. Gesicki was the only bright light. Outside of those 2, Gaskin had the 3rd most rec yards at 388!!!! On the Chargers, that would be 7th best due to the superior talent around Herbert.
This year we will be able to stretch the field with the dynamic pace of Waddle and Fuller, and Parker offers the big body - who will now no longer be the sole focus of the opposing defence. Gesicki should also be able to build on last year with attention drawn elsewhere.
The Jets and Patriots do not imo, have a receiving core at that level, and neither of their QB's have played pro yet. He is the 2nd best at his position for the moment, with Josh Allen being the best. However, does Tua need to be the best QB in the AFC East for us to win it? The Bills defence ranked 3rd of the 4 last year, and we have potentially added a game changer on the edge to supplement our No1 ranked core to get after Allen better than we did last year.
Cross those fingers
