Dolphins undrafted free agents thread

Do u see them overloading one side with wake and Jordan? One guy with his hand in the dirt and the other standing up. Could see them wrecking havoc rushing from the same side at times

Kaddu has been told to gain weight to be a pass rush specialist.

The guy I'm interested to see where he lines up is Vernon. They might be grooming him as Misi's replacement at SOLB.

that is a last ditch effort to save an nfl career...those position switches pretty much never work out...kaddus spot if he even had one went when we signed dion jordan...to me it looks like he's got one foot out the door already...

agreed on the vernon thing with misi...that's possible...if they don't plan on resigning misi after this season they would be wise to give vernon some reps to see what he's got in camp at solb...

]is sinkfield the kid that got shut down by xavier rhodes in the bowl game??? if so he didn't show me much.[/B]..very raw...struggles to get off the los and into his routes...practice squad maybe

kovacs looks to me like a guy that would play specials primarily if he made the team...smart kid but i'm not sure i see 53 man roster stuff there...

no he is the guy from Northern Iowa who ran 4.19 check out his highlights... reminds me of a Brian Hartline with 4.19 speed and YAC... guy makes some wild catches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMRdpwdoUxI

I definitely think Vernon is going to get plenty of reps at SOLB...he got some last year as well and didn't look completely lost out there

i doubt it...til jordan proves he can win one on one against a tackle on the edge in the pros they're gonna roll the protection to wakes side anyways...i would run more overload stuff on the left side and given jordans movement skills run some stuff with him coming up the middle and thru different gaps...

I think Marshall,Sinkfield, Davis, Francis, Clay, and McCabe have serious shots at the 53

on Nickel I would have Odrick and Wake on the offenses right side, and Starks and Jordan on the other.... lots of E T with Starks and Jordan....

if i'm miami i look to other rosters cuts and eyeball spitler as the guy i want to upgrade at mike as the 5th lb on the 53...his roster spot should be dicey to say the least...he's got no future starter potential barring a disaster anyways...get someone with some damn instincts for depth...a cagey vet if need be...

lbs without instincts never add up to anything but waste of time

I don't think Jenkins has great instincts, either. Neither of the UF linebackers impressed me with that on tape.

folks...there's your slot wr...chad bumphis...got top end speed and burst just like davon bess...don't be surprised if he makes the roster...kid can play...i liked bumphis and he's underrated but when i reviewed his work i saw the same skill set davon bess offered us...just not very fast or explosive...

if they want a true slot chad bumphis is your guy...

I watch or listen to plenty of coach's shows. Some are quite obscure. Within the SEC, Chad Bumphis' name came up all the time from opposing coaches, before and after they played Mississippi State. They'd talk about how many problems he caused.

That arrogant SEC analyst on CSS, Tony Bernard, he raves about Bumphis.

The first time I saw Bumphis he made a nice very aware catch in the back of the end zone, shielding the defender and dragging both feet in bounds. That type of play always impresses me because the typical receiver is clueless, and finds a way to run himself out of bounds even if he catches the ball. It's the same type of thing I noticed immediately from Tevon Austin. When players demonstrate instincts on that type of play, it transfers to the rest of their game.

I feel kind of stupid for not mentioning Bumphis yesterday in the late rounds. I was clicking between the draft and both the PGA and LPGA golf. When I returned to this site briefly and saw the name Sturgis, long after we drafted the kicker, I got briefly excited because I confused the name with Bumphis. I remember thinking, "Wow, we got the Mississippi State kid, that's great." I don't think of Sturgis as Sturgis. He's the Gator kicker. He'll always be the Gator kicker to me. Name is irrelevant.

Once I realized it wasn't Bumphis, I assumed he had been drafted anyway, by someone else. It was quite startling, and pleasing, to open this thread and see Bumphis aligned with us. Hard to believe he wasn't drafted. Although I don't think he's quite on Bess' level in terms of hands and pinball characteristics, if that makes any sense. I never was a Bess fan but I appreciated his short window smarts and toughness.

Jenkins is so much more talented than Misi...... I think they gotta find a way to get him on the field... even though we wouldn't have a SLB... Ellerbe or Wheeler could play there even though it isn't the most ideal fit but you have to get your most talented players on the field......Jelani would have been the top 4-3 LB drafted if not for injuries the past 2 years.....

ha ha...i was way off...northern illinois i was thinking...i will have to check that out...

faster Clyde Gates that is a football player.... whats your take on Marcus Davis? I saw we just signed him today or sometime very late last night... I know is he is a height weight speed freak at 6'4 235 4.5... thats really all I know..

If I'm coaching Jordan this year I'm forgetting about the versatility stuff and just trying to put him in Aldon Smith's role for now. Rush the passer. Let's teach him how. Every minute you spend with him on coverage is a wasted minute, imo. Maybe in the future you can take advantage of that skill set but what this team needs is 8-10 sacks from someone other than Wake, and Jordan I think has the potential to be that guy. Smith had 14.5 sacks as a rookie. That's probably setting the bar too high but unless you focus completely on pass rushing he won't get anywhere close to it.

The guy needs reps, reps and more reps. I'm calling Jason Taylor and asking him to consult. I'm putting Jordan in the locker next to Wake, putting his room in training camp close to Wake, giving him maps and diagrams to Wake's house and giving Wake like a $150,000 babysitting bonus.

Whew lol that's a solid video fanfin posted. I'm rooting for him and Bumphis

Carry 6?

Wallace
Hartline
Gibson
Matthews
Bumphis
Sinkfield

hell why not

Davis, the wr from Va. Tech, is now being credited to the Jets. I would not include him with the Dolphins as of now as far as a free agent signing.

yeah they're more athletes than instincts guys...which is why jenkins may over the long haul never be a long term starter...may be a career specials and backup guy...that said ogletree doesn't have great instincts either for the position he's got outstanding physical tools and upside and the rams are betting on the upside...he plays lb more like a safety and tackles way too high
