it's amazing how hopeless he was. he just expected plays to miraculously happen.
 
His forst year after game 8. "We will lead the league in rushing this half of the season." but they continued to average like 3 yards a carry and were nowhere near the top of the league. Any surprise?

And my favorite went something like this (after almost every game of his abbreviated 2004 campaign: "Guys are still puttring their best effort forward." - OK dillhole, you just lost again, played sloppy, and are now like 2 and 6. Great effort?

How about those goofy glasses he always had on the tip of his nose during Monday Press Conferences.

His classic though is the hand through the hair during the game. It usually followed a Fiedler interception or a defensive breakdown in the 4th quarter.
 
One thing you could count on with Dumbstedt... The word "adjustment" was not in his vocabulary. How many times did we get out-coached on gameday?

That just about sums it up. The scary thing is that Huizinga freaking gave the guy carte blanche and full control over personnel despite his proven track record of failure.

WH more than made up for it with Saban. I don't care what WH has done in the past, he is THE MAN in my eyes.
 
when the 1st half ended, a sideline reporter would ask "Coach what do you need to do in the 2nd half?" Wannstedt would reply ALL the time, "we've got to keep it close and hope the defense can win it in the 4th quarter." :confused:
