That's the list of 1st round RBs since 2008... Yikes thats a scary list. I would consider 5 of them non-busts or but still not impressed.

Lists like this are Not very helpful imo. Otherwise all qbs should be picked at the end of the draft like Brady

Oh I definitely disagree, how can you not consider that list of every RB taken in the first round not being relevant? Not one solid consistent career since 2008 (8 drafts ago). History is there for a reason.

Scout: Ezekiel Elliott could be the next Adrian Peterson

By Chase Goodbread

If NFL clubs could know Ezekiel Elliott would average roughly 1,300 yards per season over his first nine years as a pro, as Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson has, drafting him high in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft would be easy.

Of course, it's not that easy, and there are no crystal balls where NFL careers are concerned; especially at the running back position. Nonetheless, one NFL scout sees the former Ohio State star's pro career taking on a Peterson-like shape.

"He is the only one with all the traits. He's got a chance to be the best player in the draft. He, (Joey) Bosa, (Laremy) Tunsil. He can catch it, he can pass protect, he's got NFL size and he can run," the scout told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "If he stays healthy he's going to be a (Adrian) Peterson-type back."

This particular scout isn't the first from the NFL to draw the same comparison. An AFC running backs coach told College Football 24/7's Sources Tell Us much the same thing last month, and noted a similar reason: the well-rounded completeness of Elliott's game.

It's a nice list.....further proof that even the best GMs/scouts miss a lot and there's more to success than just the physical. I think it also shows bad fits and bad evaluations.....and quite frankly, I didn't consider many of those guys as having 1st round grades.

I bet the list us even more depressing for cornerbacks. That's why I want Elliot or a linebacker.

Me too. Corner is almost as hard to draft and develop as a quarterback. WRs are so gifted these days. Usually faster and taller and the corner back position is at a disadvantage to start with.

I was looking at these numbers the other day. Unless you got another AP, don't take a RB in round 1. We already made that mistake with Ronnie Brown. I would like to see a list of CB's, LB's, OL and QB's.

Bortles and Bradford are starters. RGIII starts this year. Gabbert also started the second part of last year though he shouldn't be.

Gabbert actually was decent. We'll see what direction SF goes at QB on Thursday though.

Bortles threw 35 TDs. How did he forget him?

If you go back to 2007, you will gain 2 additional studs in Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch to add to the list.

If you take the 5 in which you declare as 'non-busts' out of the 17 names provided, you still have a hit percentage of almost 30%. Not entirely awful.

Add Adrian and Marshawn to the list and you are around 37% hit.

It is interesting that this was brought up, however, because believe it or not the top 4 rushers for total yards in 2015, were all 1st rounders. And if you look at the top 10 leading rushers in 2015, 6 of them were first rounders.

Problems with that is any qb that goes in the 1st is gonna start...for multiple years...possibly for multiple teams, no matter how badly he does. Look at Sam Bradford. Teams are still kicking his tires and the writing has been on the wall for years now.
