Highlights of our new tight end!

Jonnu timed his entry into Free Agency perfectly. In that year, Bellicheat was desperate to recreate his past scheme, so he signed both Jonnu and Henry to two ridiculously high contracts.
It reset the Tight End market and drove up the price for everyone. (Gesicki made bank off this reset).
Henry and Jonnu were not Gonzo and Hernandez, but they were paid like them... and it didnt really work. Jonnu was forced into a role where he blocked... and Henry flexed out.

Obviously, this hurt Jonnu's reputation and New England started wondering why they were paying him 13.5m/year to be the TE2.

The Patties screwed up... and dumped him to another team where Jonnu was asked to be the TE2 and mostly block while the other guy spent most of his time in the slot.

Yet... his numbers went up.

Now, we get him for 4m? Knowing that he's a better than average TE at the peak of his career? For 2 years??

God bless you Mr. Grier. May Ray bear you children.

My favorite play from his highlights is this one. It accomplishes 2 things: One, it provides underneath option when teams drop their LBs to stop Hill & Waddle from destroying the 2 high safety look. Additionally, it attacks the top threat to the offense (edge players blowing up QB & RB in backfield) by sending a player at him with multiple options (blocking & receiving).

This is one area where Smith excels. Because of his power, it allows him to shed a blocker to get open, not to mention he quickly accelerates downfield. Thats where it seperates the good TEs from the mediocre. Or pretty much the men from the boys. Unfortunately weve always had the mediocre boys these past years.
