Vrabel, McGinest, Colvin, C. Brown, Klecko, and not be last Larry Izzo the Pats are still looking good at LB. The won't have near the depth they have had in previous years though.

Vrabel, McGinest and Brown are older and not as good as they once were. They are role players. Izzo is nothing more than a ST player. I would love to see Izzo as a starter on that defense lining up against the Dolphins.
The Pats will struggle a bit this year. They have a lot of questions. Just because they have had success plugging holes in the past doesn't mean they always will. FO's do may mistakes. I think most in the media have downplayed the losses of Crennel and Weiss.
It would not surprise me at all to see the Pats go 9-7 and miss the playoffs.

they seem to always find ways to fix their gilitches but they have way too many this time and they'll only fix a couple i think they end up 10-6 maybe less

More than injuries, I think the biggest loss is on the coaching staff. Belicheck is good, but he can't do it all, and it will show.

Agreed. Remember the Cleveland Browns.
Parcells was only as successful as his assistants allowed him to be. BB was his most important asst. He's done nothing since BB became a head coach.
JJ couldn't win in Miami without his trusted assistants either (Turner, Butch Davis, Wanny).
I think BB will have some difficulty without Weiss and Crennel. It will show the most on offense, because they are not an overly talented bunch (especailly at WR).

Their defense is very middle-based. Strength in the middle of the field is their most important key...from DL to ILBs to Safeties. Now there's a hole right in the middle of the field...and Eric Mangini is a DB specialist, not the front seven specialist that Romeo was. They've got the DBs, now. Now, they don't have the linebackers. I would argue, though some Pats fans disagree with me, that the strength of that team through the years has been their linebackers...such a good cast between McGinest, Vrabel, Bruschi, and Johnson, they paid for Colvin and he got injured but he's come back and looks good.

Lucky for them, they still have the passrush. But, if I were playing the Pats, I'd play some middle drill right up the inside.

The Patriots have 14 LB's on the roster. Ted Johnson KNEW he wasn't going to get any or VERY LITTLE playing time. The writing was on the wall for him. Ted Johnson was hurt a lot also. He was good against the run in short yardage and on some first downs but his loss will be minor. He would have barely saw the field this season.

Ted Johnson hasnt played a full season since who knows when. They have won plenty of games with him on the IR. The guy has only played about 1 entire season combined within the last 3-4 seasons, lol.

Hah, I see the spin brigade has already come out.

Ted Johnson was the single most important player on the Pats D. With his loss they will go 1-15. Bank on it.

I didn't realize he had to do it all.

Six months ago, posters on this board were drooling over the prospect of Nick Saban hiring long-time friend Eric Mangini. He would have been good enough for Miami, but now that he's staying in New England, he's suddenly this huge question mark.

The loss of Weis is perhaps a slightly bigger concern, but they've still got the same system in place. The only thing that's going to change is the guy calling the plays, and Weis long had a reputation has a riverboat gambler who made some odd decisions in terms of play calls. The strength of the Patriot offense lies in Tom Brady. When you get a quarterback who consistently makes all the right decisions and puts the ball where it needs to be, he'll make a lot of offenses look good.

Vrabel, McGinest and Brown are older and not as good as they once were. They are role players.
Vrabel's not even 30, and coming off his two best seasons as a pro. And wasn't McGinest in the Pro Bowl either last year or the year before? Dismissing them as role players is a little premature.

But, if I were playing the Pats, I'd play some middle drill right up the inside.
Not too sure running straight at Wilfork, Seymour, and Warren is the way to beat the Pats.

It'd be foolish for anyone to think these guys are toast, but I don't care who their coach is, Pats just can't lose all these guys and both coordinators without skipping a beat.

Agreed. Not only that, but they are losing a lot of veteran leadership.

and don't forget that the Pats are minus Ty Law too
:shakeno: Nick. They won a sb without TY Law. They didn't need TY Law. So stop putting your 2 cents in. Just do what you do best, Ms. Cleo impersonations.
