A 1st year player may be a guy that spent all of last season on a practice squad or a player who may have been injured during training camp last season and never saw the field. Just a couple of examples.What's the difference between a rookie and a 1st year player...?
Rookie = 1st year player
Anything after that - 2nd year player

The all classroom session is the rookie minicamp on either of the two weekends that directly follow the draft. We did that this year as well.
So much for them making the team.

Depends on their situation. If it's a minor injury that's keeping them out a week that can be over come. May even just be a case of not passing the physical... if so once hey pass in a few days they could be lifted off the PUP

BTW, this article is about the minicamp that follows the draft. Not the training camps being currently held around the league for rookies. Gase for the past two years has held an all classroom camp for the minicamp mentioned in the article. Now marks the time for contact and physical work.
