'Official Miami Herald Mock Draft'

I think if Watt or Reddick are gone we should just drop down and take whoever's left when we pick. Lamp, Harris, Davis,Willis or their choice of secondary help are all options I'd be happy about, but this draft screams extra picks; especially late late first, early second.
 
I just hope people on this board understand that nobody from this board will be making a selection this week for the Dolphins. Yes as usual the board is very divided on just about every player. Some people want Willis and some people think he's a 2nd rounder. Some want a guard and some say no way. It's ok. It's what makes this fun but I can already see that with every pick that is made, people on this board will start to get mad at each other over who the FRONT OFFICE picks.....see, we don't get to make the picks and what we think doesn't really matter. All we can do is root for our players to play good and win and hope the FO doesn't make any more dumb moves like the Carroo trade but whatever happens, don't take it out on each other here because again, we don't get to make the picks.

Bill Polian stated on ESPN just last night that any team that takes Derek Barnett or Charles Harris in the first round is making a huge mistake. Neither is explosive enough to be an impact edge rusher and edge rushers who run 4.8 forties or worse are rarely succesful in the NFL unless they are elite run stoppers. Harris and Barnett are sub par against the run.

The next day we get the Herald telling us those are the Dolphins top two prospects for our pick.

Hope not.

Barnett is not subpar vs the run. He's not elite but he is certainly an above average and powerful run defender and an extremely productive pass rusher. Very well rounded DE.

Bjoern Woerner clone or a smaller, poor man's version of Robert Ayers.
 
Yeah I don't get Charles Harris at all and will be disapointed
If he is the pick....we don't need to play it safe...we need to shoot for greatness!

I would have no problem with him..but he'll never get to 22

I foresee that, but this draft is as unpredictable as any I've known.

I agree. I will be so pissed. I'm praying 4 QBs get picked before us. I think good things will happen if that occurs.

Barnett would be a godsend.

Still hoping we grab can one of my top 5- Foster, Reddick, Lamp, Barnett, Cunningham
 
I don't see how he moves the needle for this team. I don't think he's going to be bad, just screams mediocre to me. If that's what we're shooting for, might as well trade down and draft a few of them.
 
Derek Barnett is a Bjoern Werner clone, a smaller version of Robert Ayers. He is a good college player that has accumulated good stats with his many years of starting but he does not possess the explosiveness, athleticism or size/length of most successful pass rushers in the NFL.

I agree with Bill Polian, it would be very disappointing if we end up with Barnett or Harris in the 1st round.
 
I think Harris is fine. May not be the sexiest of the DEs but Mizzou pass rushers have become at the very least solid pass rushers in the NFL

Maybe for measurements, but Barnett's game is more comparable to that of a Cameron Jordon.
 
Never liked Harris not even a one trick pony cause he gets dominated by decent college tackles. Yeah he had 9 sacks but 7.5 came in 3 games meaning in the other 9 games he played he had 1.5. And he had those 7.5 against bad O lines and young QBs im a huge UGA guy but that line was horrific and Eason held on to the ball to much in fact he may be passed by a incoming freshman. South Carolina and Vandy he had the other 4.5 not really world beating teams and South Carolina also had a young QB.

Against good o-lines say WVU, Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Tenn he had a grand total of 1 sack. He also had no sacks vs Eastern Michigan, Midd Tenn, and Kentucky. How in the hell does this guy get first round grades. Feels like a guy who padded against bad lines and bad teams never grew as a rusher and is completely in like 1st grade when it comes to run defense.

Ive watched him for 3 years this pick would def make me sour.
