Comparing the most popular sport in the history of the planet.... to ice hockey? Weird
as weird as sitting in a declining country 3000 miles away and proclaiming that Miami is a dying city - or something to that effect you mean?

Not trolling, and no doubt my consciousness-level will ramp up if the US becomes a serious player, but I don't get this sport at all. NFL or even NCAA football is a tough act for them to follow on so many different levels. :idk: While I understand fans go crazy and sometimes racist over it, I just don't understand why. IMO, it's hockey without the fluidity, tempo or physicality. But to each his own

I honestly didn't have a lot of time for soccer until my kids started playing it, but I've come to appreciate it since they're into it bigtime. To me it's somewhere between hockey and baseball - there's second by second action (though it's not nearly as fluid and frenzied as hockey, as you say), but plenty of thinking man tactics and system/structure that can lead to climactic moments (like baseball). It's my third favorite sport to watch behind NFL and NHL, because the sheer pace and physicality of those two is hard to beat, and yet in the end, nothing can beat the suspense and excitement in soccer of a well-executed build-up finished with a brilliant run or volley for a GOOOOLLL! Those are the transcendent moments, and now I know why they call it the "beautiful game".Not trolling, and no doubt my consciousness-level will ramp up if the US becomes a serious player, but I don't get this sport at all.
