Philbin, WCO, 174 lb Tavon Austin..

It all comes down to whether the Dolphins are willing to pass up on a better version of Wes Welker and possibly the most explosive slot WR the league has ever seen. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want that stain on my resume if I was a GM.

Wes Welker went undrafted. So virtually ANY WR out there could be the next "Wes Welker".

Just the same, Tavon Austin could end up being a bust or a part-time specialist, while several other 1st rd draft picks end up being Hall of Famers.

I'm semi amazed that we are even having this conversation.

Anyone that thinks we would take ANY WR in this draft at number 12 in the draft has a basic problem understanding football, NFL football, interpersonal relationships, this team and the passing game.

I'd give the chances of us drafting a WR as about the same as us drafting a QB at number 12.

Just like any QB drafted in the 6th round can be as good as Brady right? Beautiful logic.

174? I didn't realize he was that small. John Jerry has BMs bigger than that- move as fast too.

Lots of speedy guys we can pick up in round 2 or 3, pic 12 isn't a good place for a gamble.

Let me ask you a question. Where do you have our passing weapons ranked in the NFL. I could easily name at least 14 teams that have better overall passing weapons than we do. By drafting Austin you move into the top 10 and actually scare defenses. Right now our passing game is not that hard to defend. It's right in the middle of the pack in the NFL. Austin takes the offense to the level real contenders play at.

Correct. And a supermarket worker could end up as Superbowl MVP QB Kurt Warner. Fact is, you don't know. You have to make a calculated guess.

You're acting like our #12 overall pick can only be used on Tavon Austin or a pile of garbage. That's ridiculous. There will be plenty of Hall of Fame potential talent available with the #12 pick.

I'm not saying everyone else at 12 is garbage. You are putting words I never said in my mouth. I am saying that at 12 there isn't another player that will impact our team in a positive way like Austin. You don't pass up someone if you think he is the most talented player and will give opponents the most problems. Who else is going to give opponents more problems than Austin at 12? I'll wait....remember I said MORE than Austin....so show me who and how they will give opponents MORE problems. I'm willing to listen. Sell me.

174 lb Tavon Austin might not even be a starter for us. If he can't be a boundary starter, then he's a part-time player. A dedicated slot receiver is only on the field on certain formations. When it's a 2-tight end set, or a FB formation, there will not be a slot receiver on the field.

You do if there's a significant risk that a 174 lb WR will end up as a part-time player.

Players that will be on the field for every play.

In today's NFL slot WR's are starters buddy. They play 80-90% of downs. Oh BTW he also plays RB so you can use him at RB as a change of pace which essentially means he can be on the field 100% of the time. He's also an elite return specialist. We are not palying 90's football here. Who are you? Bill Parcells?

Eifert gives our offense a huge advantage as well. I dig Tavon Austin but im worried he will get popped by an NFL LB and be out for a while.

If you can't specifically say who you are just a troll who shouldn't be taken seriously. Name someone or STFU.

The idea isn't needing a WR as much as picking a future Pro Bowler. If we pass on Austin I don't see us picking a WR later.

O SNAP. You telling me that we could could move from the "mythical 15 spot" to the "mythical 9th spot" just by wasting a early first rounder on a small slot WR? (small fast WR, where have I seen this before....).

Well, I'd sold. We will leave Phibin's offense of a FB or two TEs and go 3 wide because.......you want us to. Then we will use Austin over Gibson or Bess. or wait, was your plan to have a 4 wide offense as our base now?

You said "Right now our passing game is not that hard to defend."

Have you been on Earth in the last couple of weeks? Are you ****ing kidding me?

Crazy thought, maybe after we draft your small "slot WR of Wonder", we can draft a couple of corners who can help this team stop other team's passing attacks.

You say we are 15th in passing attacks, that must make us about 25th in defending the pass.

Simple math question for you. Which is worse, being 15th at something or being 25th at something?
