why is everyone freaking out over the signing? he could essentially be cut and those that are getting cut his week from all 31 teams can be picked up

Maxwell has stunk the field up this preseason. He doesn't deserve a starting role.

So it's preseason... Basically Maxwell doesn't deserve a starting role and some fans will say we cannot read too much into preseason games but still want to bench him. In that case, we should also bench Tunsil, James, Julius Thomas, & Jones.
