    1) Miami was only up 24 pts, with 10:21 left in the 4th quarter. That's only 3 scores, which can be quickly erased.

In 1987, Bucs were ahead by 25 points in the 4th qtr against the Cardinals. The Cardinals scored 28 points in 10:41, to win a huge 4th qtr comeback..

    http://articles.latimes.com/1987-11-09/sports/sp-14469_1_deficit

    2) Onside kicks are most likely to succeed when they're not expected.

When Miami did the 4th qtr onside kick, the game was still in play. The onside kick was simply the dagger in the heart, to finish off the opponent, to win the game.

But if Belicheck would’ve done it, nothing would’ve been said.

I thought it was a terrible decision but not in the name of sportsmanship but because when you are already up big against a team that is struggling and had given up at that point why on earth would you risk giving that team great field position?

Practice for the Patriots? You just showed it to them then!

If he did it to show Elway who’s boss then Gase’s ego is out of control and he is even less cut out to be a head coach than I had already feared.

Trey and Mike had the exact opposite viewpoint. If Gase wins nobody will care, if Gase lose badly, it will follow him.

    Winning cures all

But if the Dolphinsite lose out and get shutout. Gas seat gets warm

Of all the things to bash about the Fins or the NFL in general they pick an onside kick in a meaningless game. LoL.

Glad I dont watch these ESPN talking head shows.

For so long our fans were upset when we would jump out to a lead only to let the other team catch up because we went to conservative. Frankly, I loved it. Its refreshing to knock an opponent down and then step on their throat. And I'll be honest, when I read we did an onsides kick and recovered it, you're damn right I cheered. I wanted a 40 burger on the board.

I don't know why anyone puts ESPN on unless it's a live sporting event. Their opinions suck!

More of a flavor of the week type of topic than anything that will actually "come back to bite" Gase....

Kind of a silly take, as if there is some sort of judiciary system implied or otherwise that hands out punishment for giving home fans a beat-down they rarely get to see.

Give me a break, and let's move on to the Patriots.

There are two sides. One one side, I agree, it was unnecessary, PARTICULARY as a trick play. OTOH, this is a classic BB decision - 'not my job to slow down.'' I don't think going for it bothered me as much as the trick play at 33-9.

Being an old school guy it's hard to see any value in that onside kick. I think the younger generation may not see it as a big deal and maybe the opposing players don't either.

My son loves the touchdown celebrations and I'm warming up to them. But, admittedly even that is a little hard coming from a culture/time period where that was considered bad sportsmanship.

Last time I checked it was lol the Broncos should be more worried about not letting a Jay Cutler led team win by 26 pts.

I think it's pretty much the opposite of this TBH. I didn't dislike the onside kick because I thought it was rude or classless. I disliked it because it was meaningless and now that we've done it other teams will be looking out for it. We recovered that because Denver wasn't expecting it... so why break it out at that point in a game when we could have used it in another game that was close, or we needed every break possible to get an edge(pats). It just didn't make any sense.

I can agree with that notion though... but will we really NEED it at any point this season? At least Gase got his revenge I guess. No wins mean anything at this point

We might... but regardless of whether or not we have any meaningful games again this season I'd still rather stick it to the pats, or even the bills than the bronc9s when the game was already under wraps.

Belicheat would have had his team prepared for that, the fins saw something on film they could exploit with the Broncos. Doubt it would have worked against the pats regardless of whether we did it or not last week.

#1 Coaches like Belichick and Payton has been doing this for years, and they are applauded for their aggressiveness.

#2 ESPN is nothing more than sensationalism. They stopped journalism years ago. That's why their ratings continue to tank.

PTI is the last of the Mohicans when it comes down to what I still watch on that network. I'll still catch a Sportscenter every once in a while if Van Pelt is hosting, but that's it. Wilbon will always be my favorite. He admits his biases and when he is wrong. Excellent writer as well. Does the research, watches the games, and knows what he's taking about. Wish he would replace all the Stephen As of the world.

I didn't see the need for an onside kick at that time either. Game was over. That was a big '**** you' more than anything else. Couldn't matter less though. Surprised it even got air time.

I don't have a problem with it. You play 60 minutes of football, why let up and end up like the Falcons.
