***Reflection on today's AFC Championship game.***

Elite QB beats average QB.

Poor defense beats elite defense.

The Giants D was every biot as good as SFs, there were not any elite QBs on the field in SF. The Giants won b/c the D held down SF and their STs forced 2 key TOs.

Well we've already established that it doesn't matter what Eli Manning does, you're just not going to admit that he's an elite QB.

when he plays at an elite level I will call him elite as hard as they may be. He's played really well but he's not elite. Put a real elite QB like Brady on that team in that division- do you think they win 9 games and squeak into the playoffs?

Patriots wouldn't win as many games as they do in the AFC East if they had some competition. Not Brady's fault that your team and my team sucks.

Giants are practically the Dolphins without Eli Manning.

The best team in the AFC East the last 2 years turned out to be the Jets, there weren't any '09/'10 jets in the NFC East this year.

Sure if the Dolphins had an elite WR trio, good OL, ferocious pass rush which makes their D great and good STs.

Both QBs in SF were ok, neither turned it over but Eli had 3 chances where he was fortunate and he did nothing all 2nd half long, the only 2 scoring drives came after starting deep in SF territory. Sorry, Eli wasn't the reason the Giants won any of their playoff games. he helped but the D has been outstanding. If our D played like that in either of the 2 title games we lost we would have been in the SB.

Best team in the AFC East the past two years turned out to be the Jets...

Here we go.

That's the dumbest thing I've heard this side of the sun.

And?

If this and that. Lee Evans had that ball stripped. He didn't drop anything. That was a great defensive play at the right time that the Patriots needed. If the Patriots were in the 3rd and 1 situation, Tom Brady runs for that first down because he knows what to do in that situation. Flacco **** the bed. And somehow people are surprised.

So, by your own admission the Patriots DB made a "great play" and stripped the ball, but it's due to Flacco ****ting the bed?

lol...J/K bro...kinda.

Really?

Jets: 4 playoff wins including win on the road at NEW ENGLAND, 2 chances to play for the right to go to the SB
Pats: ZERO playoff wins, including losing soundly at home to the Jets in the '10 div rd where Mark Sanchez played much better tha elite Eli has in any game this postseason.

It's hard to disagree with you about this. And Sanchez, in the playoffs overall, has played better than even Brady has over the last few seasons. The last 2 seasons the Jets represented the AFC East in the AFCC game twice. They were a better team than everyone in the AFC besides the Colts and Steelers.

Lets look at this in quarters of total seasons from 09 to 11. 16 games in a season, 4 quarters of a year, 3 years = 12 total quarters.

At 15 weeks into the 2009 season the Jets were 7-7 and needed help to get into the playoffs and caught some breaks and got in. Then they played good ball essential using the playoffs as a brand new lease on life getting to the AFCC before losing.
-2009 Q1 = .750, Q2 = .250, Q3 = .500, Q4 = .750

At 12 weeks into the 2010 season the Jets were 9-2 before finishing by losing 3 of the last 5 and riding the first half success into the playoffs, again kudos to the Jets for using the playoffs as a new lease on life and playing solid ball before getting bounced in the AFCC.
-2010 Q1 = .750, Q2 = .750, Q3 = .750 and Q4 = .500

In 2011 the Jets played Q1 = .500 Q2 = .750 Q3 = .500 and Q4 = .250

This is clearly not the play of an elite football team, they played up past their potential when making the playoffs but the fact of the matter is still the same, in 09 they needed help and played two teams in the final weeks who rested starters, in 2010 they rode the first half success and in 2011 they were widely inconsistent.

Out of the 12 total quarters over the past three years the Jets have had six at .750, four at .500 and two at .250 now compare that to the Patriots who have played one quarter at .250 and one quarter of .500 ball the rest are all .750 and above.

Awesome but in '09 and '10 NE lost at home in their first playoff game including soundly to the Jets in 2010 while the Jets won 4 road playoff games(2 each season) and made 2 title games.

2011 is no contest, they are in the SB and we didn't make the playoffs but '09 & '10 we proved over the long haul we were the best team in the division. We proved that outside of Indy '09 and Pitt '10 we were the best team in the conference.

LOL!! Come on bro, I hate the Jets as much as anyone, but this is crazy. The Jets played in 2 straight AFCC games. By default this means that during those seasons they were one of the top 2 teams in the AFC. They lost those games so they were 2nd...behind the eventual Super Bowl teams, Colts and Steelers. Ask the 2011 Packers, 2011 Saints, and 2007 Patriots if they would rather win more regular season games or playoff games and then sk them if they feel they were the best teams in the NFL those seasons. Currently...the 2 best teams in the NFL are the Patriots and Giants. Period. Last week the 2 best teams in the AFC were the Ravens and Patriots.

The Jets made the best of their playoff chance much like the Giants, it doesn't mean they are the best team. Don't be blinded by the AFC championship games, I get the fact that getting in the playoffs is more important than how you got there, trust me I get it.

Bur I also know that "elite" is a world that is used far to often in the NFL these days. There are two truly "elite" teams right now and for arguments sake let's define "elite". Elite = dynasty in terms of multiple Super Bowl Championships (the ultimate prize). Only two New England and Pittsburgh, end of discussion, the only two teams to win multiple times within the last ten seasons.

Now for arguments sake the next beast team in that ten year span would actually be the Giants and Colts since they are the only two other teams to make multiple trips in that span.

Spin it how you want, if the Jets where on the "elite" level they would have made an appearance by now but even in their best season under Rex they faultered down the stretch, the Jets are no better than the Eagles or San Diego on any level and have proven just as much, they are a good football team with talent that can win when it counts but never able to seal the deal, it is what it is.

You want to be considered in the top 2 teams of either division than come on brother you better make at least one trip to the show until then take your seat with the B teams.

NE's dynasty ended a long time ago, how can a team that didn't win a playoff game for 3 years be elite? THIS year they are but the last 3 years? Nope, you have to have playoff success to be elite.

One championship game I can write off as fluky but 2? and doing it back to back? that wasn't a fluke, we also beat the 2 hottest teams in the AFC on the road in the div rd each year.

'09 and '10 the Jets were elite, this year we took a step back but even including this year the Jets are still the only team in the NFL to make 2 title games the past 3 years.
